Drove over a rock on the beach and heard a quiet 'tink' that sounded similar to a stick breaking.

Any recommendations for rock sliders that will be a bit more durable?

Any frame mounted rock slider will be more durable than that, but they won't work as well as a step. I've seen one fabrication company make add on steps for their sliders, but I don't remember the name.

I'm sure that any rock sliders you choose to go with will be more durable as yeos said, and the girlfriend uses mine all the time as a step to get in the truck.

Sliders at 0 degrees tilt (flat) with fill plates. Most of the vendors on TW will make them for you. Mine are SOS and I added my own metal filler material I had on hand. These bolt onto the frame in the factory holes.
