Does this work in conjunction with the OVTune? When in S mode do you still get the OVTune hp benefits, while shifting with the SSP?

The way the truck shifts now with the latest Ovtune update is awesome. I can run the tune on 87 or 91 octane. I can get in the truck now and just go. When buying the Ovtune ,it comes with any future updates for free.

Many people have found they don't need/use this once OV tune has been installed. OVtune addresses power output, and shifting points as part of the process and is also designed to incorporate ECT functionality as well. I've been following the chatter over there but not all of it. For more specifics I'd search over there too.

SSP V2 automates the Sport shifting up or down based on information sent via the vehicles ODBII port. SSP V2 at times can have conflicting shift maps when ECT is activated so you would be benefiting from the throttle maps change more so than the shift maps. In my experience with using the SSP, V1.2 and V2 I haven't experienced any weird behavior while in ECT that wasn't there before the SSP. I use it when I need more aggressive throttle response.

Nice! Didn't think about under there. I wanted mine hidden also so I stuck it to the right of the gas pedal on a flat piece of air duct. Works awesome and you can't even notice it. Plus I can still easily access the on off switch.

Pulling the OBD2 plug won't completely turn off the SSP. The box will still beep as it pulls power from the little connector by the transmission lever.

I doubt Toyota techs go looking for the source of a beep. Afterall, "It's normal operation".

Installed the V2 chip and only driven a short distance but I think this is just what is needed. I am using number 1 but with the ease of changing from 1 to 2 to 3 it is better. This feels more like the shifting I was used to in my 2010 that I traded.

It's my understanding that there have been issues with the ECU learning while in D using the OVTune. Since the SSP is used in S mode, doesnt that negate any learning problems? So you get the benefits of the OVTune power, and the non learning shifting of the SSP?

Do you have to wait for the SSP to activate before you can drive off?

Ok, I'm going on an 800 mile trip from Albuquerque to San Diego tomorrow on SSP. This is a test, and only a test. I'll report back. I've only driven 70 miles max on the freeway so far.

Installed mine today (2017 TRD O/R). Shockingly easy to install. The hardest part was getting enough leverage to pull the center console up.

Drove about 100 miles freeway. The rig is actually not annoying to drive anymore.

Well worth the money. Thank you!

Makes me angry that Toyota fucked the transmission in these trucks up so much that this is required, though.

Got mine today. Did several short trips around town. Mine seemingly came defaulted to Profile 3 (maybe I changed it somehow by mistake before I fully understood everything). I thought it was way too aggressive until I figured out that was the most aggressive profile.

Ended up settling on Profile 1 as most of my driving is around town. Works great. Maybe holds 3rd for a little long on 35-45MPH streets, but still way, way better than stock, and when you need to downshift and go it actually does it, even in the least aggressive profile.

I finally installed the new chip. Easy peasy. I have tires with 5.6% bigger diameter than stock tires, so the profile 1's lower shift points are feeling better.

Install box in qi charger spot, so it is always out of view. Before taking to dealer, open up console, switch off ssp, unplug the obd connector and stuff it under the console, close console. To see how to open up console, watch OP's youtube installation video.
