Yakima Blockhead Installation Instructions

Here's a good locking setup for anyone looking for ideas.

Yakima Accessory Locks (lock cores not included)
* (4x or 6x)

$53 YAKIMA, SKS Lock Cores for YAKIMA Car Rack System Components, 4 pack

Yakima SKS Lock Keys & Cores
- NOTE: The Accessory locks don't come with cores, so you need at least 4. If you want all of your keys to be the same, order 6.

Now for a trip to the hardware store:
* (1x) 3/16" x 1" x 3' piece of flat steel
* (4x) 1/4"-20 stainless steel locking nuts
* (4x) 1/4"-20 x1" stainless steel carriage bolts
* (4x) 5/16"-18 stainless steel locking nuts
* (4x) 5/16"-18 x2" stainless steel carriage bolts
* (1x) Can of black (or whatever) spray paint

 

Here are some shady screenshots of what you will need to fabricate out of the metal that you bought from the hardware store...

I'm working to put together a YouTube video of the actual installation steps that I took to ensure this thing is locked down really well. If you're pretty crafty, you can probably figure it out based on the parts list and pictures I have provided already.

Looks good, I just added some to my truck this weekend as well.

I have one locking mount left over I'm selling that mounts to our Taco rails directly without having to do all this work (Rockymount LoBall Track) it didn't work with my almost 50 year old bike, but does work with modern bikes.

I can appreciate the work you put into this.
