Single AAL vs. 3 Leaf AAL

Huge difference in ride quality between the two. The single AAL is stiff when loaded up and even stiffer when empty. The back end doesn't absorb any bumps in the suspension and just hops around on the road. The three leaf with overload gave the same lift height with much better ride characteristics and actually allowed the rear suspension to flex as designed.

Not sure. I was 2 inch in the front and 3 inches in the rear. I just traded my Tacoma in on a 2017 TRD Pro 4Runner. Here is a pic what it looked like.

 

My 2015 TRD OR Access Cab has Wheelers progressive 1 1/2” Pack with the OL. Drivers side rear measures 23”. Passenger side rear measures almost 24”.

My driveway isn’t level though

Btw, 5100’s set at 1.75 with stock Sport coils.

 

Oh okay. Looks good! Mine sits up around 2.75 with my 885's and tge top plate spacers. What made you switch?

 

The single AAL's are great. No complaints.

 

Yeah thats what I have now but it feels pretty stiff. It probably wouldn't feel so bad if I didn't have 10 ply tires but it would be cheaper to try out a 3 leaf pack compared to new tires.

 

This is exactly what I am about to order for my 2018 Short Box Manual. Would you still recommend this setup?

 

Yes as long as your not constantly hauling 300# regularly

 

How much lift did the front set up give you? and was the truck level? Any rake with this set up? Thx!

 

Looking for help on a new leaf pack for my 17’ trd sport rear end, anyone know a set that would get me up 3” in the rear and if I need to upgrade the rear shocks too?! Thanks peeps

 

Dakars will get you about 3in an yes you’d need longer shocks plenty of options. I have ome an love the ride

 

In regards to the 3 pak add a leaf , has anybody run into driveline vibrations with them ? I have a single leaf that lifted the rear 2” . Rides really stiff (not the best spring) and after much trial and error has to add 3 degree shims to get ride of the vibration. That single spring is coming out and looking at the 3paks . Have any of you had any vibration with your set up and if so , how did you cure the problem?

 

Interested in this too. I'm about to install a 3L AAL with OL out... so wouldn't be as high up as you. But I'm pretty sure most that do the same don't have vibes. Not sure though.

 

I just installed the Wheelers 3 leaf w/o overload and it gave the advertised 1.5" lift and no vibes what so ever. I removed a short single add a leaf to go to these instead. I can tell you that the 3 leaf progressive is deffinately more flexible and less rough than the single add a leaf ever was. Hope this helps answer some of your questions guys.

 

5100s, 885s, and deaver 3 leaf AAL here. I have a bakflip tonneau on. Gave me about 2.5 inches of lift in the back with the overload on. Don't let anyone persuade you into thinking that setup is bumpy. These trucks with that setup still makes it the smoothest riding truck out there. If anyone disagrees, they've never driven an older truck, or they belong in a ridgeline.

 

That ridgeline comment though...

 

I added the wheelers 3 leaf add a leaf pack, with overload in, and have slight vibration from 15-25mph. gonna add the 3 degree shims...pain in the neck to take the pack apart again.
