    CHIVA FALLS Trail Run/Camping Trip

10 months later, it is finally time for another Toyota Meet/Greet/Trail Run/Campout! Not too much notice on this one, but it is quite different from our meet earlier this year. October 21st at 8AM we will meet at Circle K off of Tanque Verde at the following address:
    11271 E Tanque Verde Rd
    Tucson, AZ 85749

From here we'll head out no later than 0830 and continue East to Redington Pass Road. There are 2 entrances for the Chiva Falls Trail. Each trail will test you, but we confirmed a 2wd Tundra on 34" mud terrain tires and a 2" lift can make it to the camping location using the second entrance aka "2wd" route. This route bypasses a large 4x4 section and a difficult obstacle, then junctions with the original trail near a wash where camp will be. I highly recommend minimum 1-1.5" lift for Tacomas, T4R, or FJ, 2-2.5" lift for Tundras and some good offroad tires for everyone.

The first entrance or "4x4" route leading up to Chiva Falls and back out will require offroad experience, listening to your spotter, willingness to accept AZ pinstripes, and some front and rear bumper dragging. This trail gets pretty tight and is not for the fainthearted. I also recommend sliders, especially for those with minimal lift. Within the first quarter mile of this route off of Redington Road is a challenging obstacle called 3 Feathers. This obstacle can be extremely difficult for long wheel base Tacomas or Tundras with minimal lift. Sliders will help, but then the rear differential or driveshaft can get hung up. I currently have sliders and 3" of lift and made it through with ease in my Tundra.

Other than that, Chiva Falls is truly an Oasis in the desert even though it isn't currently running. There was a small trickle coming down, but it's still a great trail to experience. The weather unfortunately is still pretty mild. Forecast says about 86 for the high, but low 50's for the low  Hope to see some of you soon!

What a coincidence, was just asking about this place last night. Will be away at RT in Moab for this run. Maybe next time.

Yea... I was pretty bummed when we realized Moab was too much for this time of year, so I guess you could say this trip will be for all those that can't attend RT but still wanna wheel

I suppose it is worth noting, I drove Rinzler through every obstacle out there. 2WD skinny pedal, rear locker, and plenty of clearance

Crazy this was 4 years ago!

In for the run for sure, camping right now is getting questionable for me though. Either way, I'll be at the circle k at 8!

If any Phoenix guys want to come down Friday night to avoid the long drive Sat morning, I have room for a few people, especially if you just want to throw up your rtt in the driveway. And I'm five minutes from the circle k...

Same for me, I'm about 10-15 from the Circle K. I'm still only 50/50 on actually making for the full event though. Depends on how much I get done this week.
