Pop the headliner and try to very gently work it out.

Don't use heat/cooling method. You risk effing up the paint.

I had hail repair done on my previous vehicle. I don't know of it was a bad place to get it done or what but I hope I never have to go through that again. Procedure was painless and car looked great but the real damage came from them having to take all the interior of the car apart. IMO, unless you're very careful once you take all that stuff apart it never goes back the same. I had random rattles in the doors and ceiling - I swear I could hear screws and plastic tabs that had come loose and rolled around in the free space.

If I had to do it again, I'd wait until long after the storm passed. Seems like the people who roll into town after a storm are very bad, but also some dudes are just kind of transients that set up shop for a while and then move on, I'd make sure I found a very reputable place that has been around for a while.

These guys that roll into town after a storm are "hail chasers". Some of them are legit, some of them not. We had a large hailstorm last April hit here with thousands of damaged vehicles. How t works is the chasers roll in,and strike a deal with the body shops. The shop gets a percentage of the repair on each vehicle, so it's easy money in the bank for them. I've even seen local PDR guys get shoved out of body shops they've been with for a long time. Because some chaser comes in and undercut the percentage the current PDR guy has with the shop. Hell,we had a Russian crew come in and take away a large shop from a local guy, crazy. I've been doing PDR for 19yrs,so I'm pretty damn good at it. I urge anyone considering PDR to definitely reference the PDR business they are dealing with.
