My 2017 Taco came with DigiFilm, a sort of paint protection film. It covers the hood, bumper and rocker panels

    Cost $399

Installed on all of their vehicles during PDI

I have had to have the DigiFilm redone 3 times due to poor installation.

They keep trapping dirt and lint in the film, it's also starting to lift on the edges in certain areas

I finally called the service manager (no response days later) so i decided to head up to the dealership myself. He admitted that it wasn't their best work and tried telling me that it will never be PERFECT and that he'd prefer they didn't do this in their detailing bay.

I asked for a refund and that I'd have this done elsewhere. He said he wasn't sure they could do that but offered top have the Digifilm re-done by them (waste of time)

This is a huge dealership, not some hole in the wall...

    Thoughts?

Sounds like a dealer money grab so I'd make them pay dearly for their customer scamming ways. Redo it until it is perfect or full ''refund.''

The only issue is that It's typically an all day thing and requires me getting it dropped off by 7am and getting to work by 8 (I'm normally at work by 6am).etc it's becoming a time sink

Can they give you a loaner until they do it correctly? Drop it off the night before, pick up a loaner, keep loaner until done correctly?

They have in the past. Again, I'm sort of to the point where I no longer have faith in their ability to do this job properly. His comment of "It will never be 100% perfect" turned me off to them.

Basically a guarantee that I will see lint and debris trapped under the clear bra. How is that worth $399 "it looks like shit, but hey, it's protecting the paint"

It's just not that hard to do, especially if it's done in a debris free [like maybe the shop workers should clean the place and wet the floor if it's not part their IQ level] area and a tack cloth is used to clean the paint surface before it's applied.

    Their employees are just lazy.

Talked to the dealer. He said they would be happy to remove the protection package and refund me the 400 dollars via putting it towards my loan. I told him that the protection package was something i wanted when purchasing the car.

He said he can't pay me directly to go have it redone and would need the shop of my choice to send them the bill so long as it's close to $400..

The film on the rockers has began to peel but the dealer said they did not install that and that it must have been a factory installation. Can anyone confirm as to whether or not Toyota does this?

My stoneguard(film on the rockers) had bubbles on it, my dealer just ordered new ones to be installed when they come in, no problem at all.

Eh, I just went ahead and opened a case with corporate, she seemed to think the dealership isn't handling this properly.

And if they either are not equipped or capable of installing the film correctly they should not be selling it, in my opinion.

Ironically, the corporate person hinted to that as well.

"So, if the factory film is peeling, that means the dealership will need to have it re-done. I see an issue here already"

Actually the service manager told me that they would order the stone guards and have a local body shop install them because"we are not equipped to do that"

Then you have my service manager literally telling me that their work will never look perfect.

Toyota Corporate about lost their marbles on that one

So far, The dealer isn't returning my calls. Toyota Corporate is involved

"we sent an alert out through the region since they haven't responded to us or you in a timely fashion"

They told me when that alert happens, it isn't good at all for the dealer. I'm curious as to why it isn't good for the dealer...hmmm
