Hey guys so i just finished my mid travel this past weekend. I love it to death. King oem replacements with icon upper arms. Now its time to start on the rear. Need advice on what leafs to run. I already have bilstein 5160s with external reservoirs. My problem is that i dont want to lift the rear end anymore than .5-1.0 inches. If anybody has any advice please let me know, thanks!

I'm in a very similar boat. Running Kings with Total Chaos UCAs. 5100's on stock leafs with 1.5"-2" extended shackles (can't remember which, honestly).

I want to keep the lift to a minimum as well, I'm about an inch right now, and would like to keep it under 2" total if possible. I've found there aren't many options out there for nearly zero lift unless you go custom. And if you want things like increased travel, you'd need to rejigger your mounting locations too.

There's always the chevy 63" swap, which I've read some guys are getting very little lift, but because the springs are used, the amount of lift is pretty variable (some get 4"+!

Are you pre-running this thing, crawling with it, or what?

Yes , I have the toytec adjustable shackle set at about 2" of lift, they do not affect the leafs that's all fairy tales... I loved them gave me good lift, just need to get a decent pair of shocks that can accommodate 2+ inches of lift ( so a longer rear shock) or else you'll be topping the shock out on droop, if you wheel hard. Besides that their a solid rear lift setup, beefs up the shackle, and doesn't affect performance and they take like 10 minutes to install yourself. You can set them from .5 to 1 to 1.5 to 2 " of lift

For that little lift your options are limited. Wheeler's makes 4-leaf (stock height) and 5-leaf (1.5" lift) spring packs but they don't seem to get the best reviews (weak leaves, flatten out quickly).

I'm running adjustable shackles set to 1" lift on stock height General Springs and they are a little stiff with no weight but alright overall.

Mostly pre running, not in the position to be buying links yet. So i want to keep things clean ans simple for now. I think ive found what im going to do. Ive found a helper pack from icon that lifts your rear by 1.5 and ive also found lowering shackles that lower it rear 1.25 so im only going to be lifting my truck by 1/4 of an inch wich im more than satisfied with. Dont want to have my rear higher than the front especially after dumping $2k into the front

@Wheeler's Off-Road Inc sells the same pack, for $50 less. e-mail them too! I've gotten deals from buying there product. You could also take out a leaf, a couple leafs or take out the overload leaf instead of buying shackles if it's to high. I made a few "bastard leaf packs" to adjust height, travel and stiffness of the leaf packs.

You could just get a new oem leaf pack.

Solo Motorsports recommended not to mess around with shackle length if you want to keep a quality ride in back that handles well at speed. They recommend getting a Deaver prerunner pack and staying soa if you're not going big on mods. Then when you are ready to put down dough for the next level you can do whatever your wallet and skills let you. Give them a call and ask them what they think - I've had good conversations that taught me a lot in a quick couple minutes!

Yeah, I’m not sure you should go with lowering shackles. I wouldn’t go there... doing that would limit your travel, even more so than just keeping the stock leafs.

Personally, if you’re wanting to minimize your lift, get some new factory leafs, and good shocks. That would be better than longer lifted leafs and shorter shackles.

Yes, I have 1.5” or 2” shackles on mine (don’t remember which, lol). Did it about 6 years ago when I did my 5100s on my oem springs. I’m still running the oem leafs and 5100s even with my Kings in the front. I have only had one chance to get it all dirty a few weeks back, and it handled quite well. Did a mix of some slow speed stuff and high(er) speed mobbing on the faster fire roads. I certainly didn’t notice any adverse driving characteristics with brand new Kings and 6 year old 5100s and “w” shaped leafs in the back.
