Trimmed 3 inches off the front mud flaps. No more scraping going over speed bumps.

First thing I did when I bought my Taco was to remove the stock mud flaps. Was going to buy some short ones, but ended up really enjoying how the truck looked without them. Some missing paint from where they rubber, but I can hardly notice.

I had some once. Even had some shorter after market ones made by rockblokz. Tore them right off. I like them for salt spray but other than that I've had bad luck.

Received my mud flaps this morning from Auto anything, bought the weather techs, no hardware. Looks as though they go Behind the plastic inner fender, the inner fender has some plastic rivets, not the push ins with the center you can remove, so looks as though I have to go shopping before starting this project. Took out a couple of the rivets to observe the under side.

The Rockblokz got ripped off? Surprised to hear that since they're flexible.

One of the first things I did as a new owner was trim the mud flaps a little bit, especially that tacky "4X4" that's printed on the rears.

Found it is a mistake to buy Weather tech mud flaps without the fender flares on a 14 model. I bought some universal ones at O'reilly's, and some u shaped flat nuts and screws at Harbor Freight, and came home and removed the front wheel, and drilled holes and used my jig saw for the cuts and the heat gun for bending the hard plastic. Did both sides in about an hour, and they turned out fine. Had to cut the bottom tip off the plastic inner fender, used just plain scissors. All in all, worked out great. The mud flaps are mounted under the plastic inner fender, which is then fastened down over the outside.

I cut 6 inches off the front flaps on my '09 DCSB--they were absurdly long and looked silly--still plenty long enough protect the body:

    All the time!!!
I bought my 2015, new, 27 months, and 62,000 miles ago. The first thing I did when I brought it home was take them off. I have no regrets, and have never even once wished I’d left them on, and never will.

Had them on my 1st gen but the front ones kept getting torn off while off-roading. Currently my 2nd Gen doesn't have any.

I’m sitting in traffic looking around, and most trucks don’t even come with them. I think Toyota keeps putting them of for the nostalgia, but they’re horrible and should be removed immediately.

I trimmed about 3 1/2 inches off mine the other day . Haven't heard anything going over speed bumps anymore . I may trim them a little more but they are definitely staying on.

I had started out with the intention of removing them but the paint underneath was too marked up from their being there for 8 years--so cut it was...

I always thought they looked cool on the 1st Gen 4Wd Tacomas. Don't really care for them on the 2nd Gens however.

Removed mine after 5 years. Should have done sooner as black marks where they’ve rubbed the paint. Unless you’re driving through mud a lot, take them off.
