    Hello all,

    Yesterday I went to a Jeep & Truck stop here in Clearwater, FL. The place has some really good reviews. I went in there prepared with questions, but I first asked what options he might have for lifting my 2015 TRD Off-road. He responded that they do a 3" in the front and 2" in the back using Rough Country spacers for a total of $599.
    So, after spending about a week trolling through the forums here, I immediately followed up this option with, "I heard that spacers can be a dangerous option for your truck. What do you think?" He asked how many miles I have on my truck, which is 27,000 and I'm the only owner. He then said he wouldn't recommend replacing the stock assembly until about 100,000 miles but if that's a route I wanted to go he would be happy to do it. He also mentioned that his Tundra is lifted with the spacer kit and he has no problems nor do any of his customers.

    What do you all think? Are there just a bunch of spacer haters on here or are they a real concern? Additionally, is this shops price for parts and install reasonable? (I don't know anyone experienced enough that I could possibly install a kit with myself, any kit.)

    no haters, spacers lifts in fact suck. the only reason i can think of he recommended waiting until 100,000 is because of warranty maybe, but even that doesn't make sense due to the magnuson-moss act. instead of dropping $600 and being unhappy with the spacer lift, so unhappy that you eventually replace it with a full setup, I would spend the extra coin, and get something you actually like. if you plan to do anything offroad, a spacer lift is definitely not the way to go.

    Just got my lift from Headstrong offroad for 1000$ just 400 more and get a quality product. Ome full lift 2.5 front 2 rear. And i only have 600 miles on my truck so I wouldnt use this place their advice seems a little off

    I did a ready lift spacers lift 4years ago. The truck wouldn't take the proper alignment. Camber adjustment is maxed out. the truck rides stiff with sensitive steering.
    You need upper control arms on any 3" I've been told.
    Lesson learned. I will now be spending more money now and doing it the right way. I hear great things about headstrong and have a msg out to them myself to make things right.

    Moral of the story, Don't buy spacer lifts.

    Thanks for your help. Are you planning on installing that kit yourself or having it done by a shop?

    It'll really come down to your Overall goal with the truck, how you plan on using your truck and how much you are looking to spend.

    There are a lot of better options than a Spacer.

    But if that is all you can afford and you don't plan on off roading, then go for it.

    I would recommend saving up a little bit more and get a set of Bilstein 5100's and OME coils.

    If you are looking to spend the big $$, Coilovers.

    We have our Chase kit that is considered a performance leveling kit...our Boxed UCA up front paired with King shocks.

    The Upper arm helps with articulation and get's the truck back to factory alignment specs!

    Thanks for the help. I see a lot of people recommending the bilstein 5100's and separate coils. What I don't find is a lot of explanation on what those guys do to the back of the truck when they lift the front with the bilstein/coil combo. Can you help out at all here?

    Rear is simple.

    AAL or full leaf pack paired with a Bilstein 5100.

    This will come down to how you plan on using your truck.

    AAL ( Add A Leaf ) is great for the majority.

    If you plan on off roading or using the truck, a Full leaf pack is what is recommended!

    AAL is of course the cheapest option.

    Yes i have zero automotive repair experience but i have the tools and ill buy a 35$ torque wrench. Then borrow the jack and stands. I want to finally learn how suspension works and will find it gratifying knowing i am doing it. Ive actually seen a man die from car not having e brake on and rolling off jack as soon as he torqued oil nut and rotar crushed him killing him instantly so safety is always first. All he did was forget to block rear tire and it cost him his life. Plenty of people run spacers but there the worst lift in my opinion. Bilstein 5100 set at 2” would only run you 350$ installed at a shop and seems thats a much better option.
