So, I have seen a lot of different views on getting an air filter or not. My Tacoma sounds kind of lame and would love some more power curve, plus I heard it increases performance as well as MPG. Again, I admit I don't know anything lol, learning tho.

    Much appreciated.

Its getting bad, Im almost broke.
It won’t do anything except make lots of noise and filter less dirt than the factory filter.

All you’ll notice is a more aggressive sound in acceleration, the horsepower and torque gains aren’t noticeable. I’m an old man so you can trust what I say.

The reusable K&n filter isn’t bad and it’s cheap

Had one on the wife's Sequoia before we traded it. It was a pain in the ass cleaning it than waiting for it to dry. I use a paper Fram Filter in my Taco.

If you look closely at their specs on increased HP it is only when running in race cars at around 5000 rpm. At the engine speeds you will be driving a Tacoma you'll see no gains in performance or fuel mileage.

I bought one years ago for a 1998 F-150 that I had. At the time most normal air filters were in the $4-$5 range, but the one for this truck was $30 and that was a lot of money in 1998. The $50 for a reusable K&N sounded good so I bought one and cleaned it instead of replacing it twice a year at $30 each.

I've since seen enough to convince me that they don't protect the engine enough to make me happy and I know they don't improve performance or fuel mileage.

Just hit 30K miles so I need a new filter. Just go OEM or parts store brand (fram, purolator, etc) paper filter?

I like to go oem. Not expensive and I like that it's up to a certain standard.

Don’t oiled filters east mass air sensors? Seems to be somewhat common.

I have a k/n filter on mine. Got it on sale on Amazon for $40. Now I just clean it, never have to worry about buying another.
