I can't decide between 2 wheels; The OEM black matte wheel or the Level 8 "Tracker"... I don't know enough about offsets, rim\tire widths to persuade my choice in this matter and hope someone could help me out.....I have a 16' 4dr 2wd long bed sport with stock 17"x7.5" wheels now and will lift the truck 2" soon. Does "offset" mean the wheel sticks out more? Thanks

    Trd wheel 17"x7' 4mm offset
    Tracker 17"x8.5" -6 offset

Just offset, the tracker will stick out 10mm further than the trd. The tracker is also a wider wheel, so the actual wheel will be 3/4” wider on both sides. You won’t really notice the wheel width difference because the overall tire is wider. Hope that makes sense. The TRD wheel is a better looking/stronger/more popular wheel. IMO

Yea, makes sense. I like the trd wheel better but was apprehensive about a smaller wheel and looking too skinny as opposed to a bit wider profile without getting too crazy. It’s about a 300.00 difference in price.. Cheapest dealer quoted 750.00 w/tax... if I went with the OEM wheel could I go with a little wider tire?

Awesome! Appreciate the help... what’s the cheapest you’ve seen those oem wheels go far? So far I’ve been quoted 1015.00 at one dealership and 750.00 at another... I thought I saw 700.00 somewhere in the forum?

Check ebay too. That's where I got my TRD beadlock wheels. Sometimes when you figure out dealership plus tax vs ebay with no tax with/without shipping costs ebay can be cheaper.

Dustin at FN wheels can hook you up with a TRD copy that is 8.5” wide! Lots of people run these. The wheels are not on his site, you have to call him

If I get the Toyota wheel it will be the OEM version... Once again I appreciate the feedback!

The more negative off set the wheel the further it will stick out. Those are both damn good looking wheels and i can't vote either way. I have an 06 and when I did my 3" lift I had to get a different off set wheel due to rubbing on my UCA I believe it's the same with 3rd gens but neither should cause an issue

I’d like to preserve as much mpg I can, big reason why I went from a full size to this... my only worry is I get the oem wheel and raise it 2”, would it look funny not have a wider profile?

It won't look funny at all. Both great looking. A tire with a nice aggressive sidewall will help a lot as well

Is the middle number the sidewall height?

On the tire? Yes. It's a percentage. Say you have a 285-70-17 tire size for examples. The 285 is the width. The 70 is 70 percent of 285 makes up the sidewall height. The 17 is the wheel size

Ok got it! So with a 17x7 wheel I probably can’t go too wide but can “fill the well” with sidewall?

You'll be able to fill the well but that will be from new tires. Probably like a 285-70-17. Or some where around that. Not exactly sure with the 2" lift. I know I've heard of some people running like a 255-75-17 tire. Options will be more limited but gives you a narrower tire and more of a "pizza cutter" look

Ok but 285 will sit right?

A 285 should sit right and look good. I personally would go with a the wheel with the more negative offset if your going with 285. It'll give it a more stanced look and less chance of rubbing
