The fact they added the bump can turns on the backstretch makes me less excited for this race.

Yes I've been to bristol a few times. There's a church about 1.5 miles from the track you can camp at for free, shuttles you to track but you got to walk back after the race.

 

Is the church secure? I know the tracks have security...

 

Darlington is near the same latitude as Commerce, Ga, so imagine Commerce (basically Winder) at the beginning of September. I'm probably the only one who misses the old Spring date. I could sleep in my truck in the field outside of turn 3&4 back then. I can't imagine camping in early September. I'm too old for that mess. I usually split a motel in Bishopville, plus I can stop by and visit Pearly Fryer's place. Taking 15 to 34 gets me in and out of the track quicker than I-20 to 401.

Darlington is a pilgrimage. Every stock car fan owes it to themselves to attend a race weekend there. Hit the museum before the crowds, grab a hamburger steak with mushrooms, cheese and onions. Talk to the owner (he's usually running food) and he'll tell you some great old stories. Swing by the front office and see if Mr. Harold King ("Mr. Darlington Raceway") is still alive and he'll tell you some REALLY great old stories. He's probably 95 or 96 now. Sit in turn one for the best sunset view (IMO):

 

We need to have a TW race camp meet at one of the tracks one day... Problem is y'all love penske!

I just like drivers, just happens that my favorites Blaney and Brad happen to drive for penske. I stopped paying attention to manufactures when it stopped mattering. Besides, Brad should've never been driving for PENSKE in the first place, he was a Hendrick guy and they let him slip through the cracks for an extra year with Mark Martin.
