Does anyone know the difference with the whole audio system in the trd off road ?
i am building my tacoma and i have 2 options

1.Premium and technology package with options

2.Premium and technology package with JBL audio with options.

    Whats the difference in these?

I believe one just comes with jbl speakers, but most on here are even switching those out for the kickers.
A lot will say it's not worth it. I got the tech package, which had navigation and sonar parking for the rear, no speaker upgrade though.

Jbl has a sub and better speakers. I would say it's worth it if your already spending money for tech package but to each their own.

The newer stuff isn't like the old 2nd gen stuff which I will say having owned both 2nd and 3rd gen. The Stereo in my 07 was better and it was just a stock unit. CD player and clock, no fancy digital head unit.

I've got Navi and no JBL. Also don't have heated seats and park sensors.

All trd models have nav. Toyotas website has a compare tool so you can see the differences

Good news is that the kicker speaker upgrade is less than $250.00
I will try and find the thread and put the link here.

The difference is that the JBL will have better speakers (which is very easy to say since the stock speakers are as minimalistic as you can get), a small subwoofer, and a small JBL-tuned amplifier.

If you don't want to do an install yourself, but you want a decently good sounding system, others have said that this is actually a pretty good deal. Also, keep in mind that this route will mean that the cost of the system is rolled into your financing and will not be an additional lump-sum cost to add on later.

But if you don't mind taking off a few door panels and messing with a few wires, then you can definitely save some $$ and still have a good sounding system and the satisfaction of knowing that you did it yourself with components of your choosing. :)
