Newbie/Lurker Questions regarding wheel & tire sizes?

    Greetings and stuff!

    Long time lurker here (and on various other forums), and just wanted to pop in to ask some questions. I've searched quite a bit on this topic and there is so much info I've been getting bogged down trying to figure out what applies to my situation, so here it is:

    I've got a 2015 access cab (4x4, 2.7L). It has the factory 16" wheels and within the next year will be looking for new tires. I am personally not the type to replace parts until they are broken or worn, and don't upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. Now, my question is, when I do go looking for new tires, and under the assumption that I will not be putting a lift kit of any sort on this truck, how big a tire can I fit without modification? I am open to using decent quality spacers if that will help (I hear Spidertrax is pretty trusted around here).

    The other question, is it even worth it? Would I just be better off getting a better set of more aggressive tires at the factory size? My truck spends most of its time on pavement and gravel, though I do take it on light trails for camping. I also want something that will give a bit more bite in the snow when I decide to head into the mountains during the winter.

    Anyway, thanks in advance for any input and suggestions.

    This disease starts with "What size tires can I fit without lifting?"

    In 2 years you'll be saying, "I've got the turbo tuned, both ends locked, On 35s. The sounds that the LT kit is making are driving me nuts. I think it's time to SAS this bitch."

    Loving it. Re-mounted it, fixed the one stripped bolt, and started getting my tools bolted down.

    It's all good man. I have the same wheels.

    Looks like you have the SR package. Bump up, cosmetically from the base model and without all the blingy chrome from the SR5

    Most people don't notice, but once in awhile somebody will look at my truck and ask, "Where did you get those headlights? They look great!" It feels good when someone notices and appreciates the finer details of your build.

    Yeah, all the little differences on the SR make a huge difference. the headlights, body cladding, wheels, are a big step up cosmetically from the standard base. All the good looks and no stupid hood scoop :)

    Have a guy around the corner from my house with the almost identical truck as mine, same color and options except an automatic. Looks great, until you see the "TRD Off-Road" decals on the bed that his dealer slapped on his 4cyl SR model SMH!

    To really answer your question, if no one else has;

    265/75 r16 is the largest you can go without rubbing, without hammering or trimming something.
    You might be able to get 255/85 r16 in there as well. That's most likely the route I will go myself. Less rolling resistance, in theory, since they're skinnier than a 265 but still give true "lift" over stock tires.

    I'm currently running 245/75 r16 General Grabber AT2s and I'm very happy with them! I think they would be suitable for you and your needs. Studdable as well for snow
