I wrote down all of my radio settings before disconnecting the battery when I did my last tune up. When my original battery was on it's way out, I swapped it with a new one while the truck was running just to avoid losing my radio settings though.

Same. When I was doing a ton of welding on my truck I ended up leaving random stations on my truck for like 1 month because I was disconnecting the bat every day

It's made easier by the fact that one of the trucks I'm usually working on doesn't even have a radio (Just the CB), so no stations to reset.

The Vette has a really nice stereo in it but I despise the HU. It's one of the early high end Kenwood DVD units, but it doesn't have nav, BT or an intuitive iPod interface, so it's garbage. It's really clunky in it's operation and the EQ isn't very intuitive, at least for me. I haven't been able to EQ it how I want it to sound, at least with the roof on and windows up. I seriously miss the Avic I had in the STi.

I think I'm going to put a cheap double DIN HU on my Christmas list to get rid of it. JVC has a decent one for like $100 with BT. I just need ot rip out the HU and make sure that my RCA setup matches what that deck had. The STi had two amps so I used a dedicated amp for the sub and another for the speakers. The Vette has a multichannel amp but I haven't ripped into it to see how they wired it as far as channels. @replica9000 I regret not buying your Avic when I had the chance.

I have the JVC R900BT. Doesn't sound quite as good as the Pioneer, but decent enough for my needs.

I have an older JVC KD-SHX850. Plenty of sound settings to tweak, but lacks modern features such as USB and bluetooth. It was one of the more expensive non-DVD radios when it was new.

I've got the Kenwood DDX7015. It's annoying because the wallpaper options stink and you cannot load your own photo.

The iPod interface only lets me cycle through songs and I cannot search out songs. The unit defaults to alphabetical order every time you restart the car so you have to randomize it. A Bluetooth module doesn't exist for it. I'm not a fan.

Is this for the vette or the taco? How is the taco's stock headunit?

The Taco is perfect. I can access all menus of the phone as well as just having Siri do what I want. I have no plans of changing things out on that. I added an Alpine PWE-S8 for a bit of low end thump. It's tough trying to dial it in because it's only an 8" subwoofer so it sounds great in the higher frequencies and you can dial in some kick but it falls on its face in the low end and just sounds bad. I find myself adjusting the EQ on the HU (admittedly poor) as well as the bass boost knob on the unit. The additional issue is the radio typically bass enhances their songs compared to the album version and BT uses the phone's EQ settings best I can tell, so it's a double EQ. Luckily you can change it for each input source, but it's still a challenge. I've come to realize some songs will never sounds great because the low end is missing.

The menu access is nice but I get being bothered with the sound quality. The speakers in my old s10 were abysmal. I am pretty happy with the speakers in my second gen, as the 1/2 doors have speakers too. I put in a single din kenwood HU for BT which is all I really care about

I much prefer navigating a USB drive over an iPod. Only catch with USB is I have to use a program to reorder the file structure on the drive so it appears in order. My iPod didn't get along with my Pioneer. Kept freezing up.

I have a 64 GB USB flash drive on my Kenwood headunit. Works great. Sorts the directories alphabetically for me.
