I've owned a lot of mud tires in the snow. The Hankook Dynapro MT's have been the best performing snow tire hands down (so far). The STT Pro's I've had in the snow once and they are pretty damn good. Waiting for a full season before I put my foot in my mouth though.
MTRs are the worst fucking tire on the planet for snow. I'd rather walk.

I've never had an MT before so I'm hoping the Pro Comps are alright. Don't live in the snow so it's not a daily concern. Didn't know that was an issue.

I feel like the Stt are not a true MT though, they are more of a hybrid like the RTs. By far one of more favorite tire designs. Looking forward to an honest review.

Way to not answers the question. You have to like one more then the other. More cons one way or the. You have used both for verry simular trips minus jumping of corse. But for general wheeling like some dessert some rocks. Witch you have done both in both trucks what set up do you like best. Or they both fucking suck!

The first gen was purposed built to go fast. It crawled like an animal because of all the travel, but I dragged that fucker on everything. Which is fine. That's the point of full armor. But I could NOT put a RTT on that thing without it being completely on it's nuts.
SUA packs are by design very flexy. They are not designed to carry weight. The second gen is a pig. But it is a way better rig for the expo stuff and still does damn fine in the rocks.

If your build is heading down the go-fast route, SUA for sure. The downside is you have to pick your lines in the rocks to avoid hitting the spring pack rather than just thinking about the pumpkin. The +2 kit is really nice because it's not overly wide but still gives you some added travel where it counts and pairs nicely with a custom spring over pack in the rear.

My advise...if you are going 3.5" over, go SUA. If going 2" over, SOA.

I think you are confusing the STT Pros with the the S/T Maxx or the MTPs. STT Pro is by all means a MT. No doubt about it. The S/T Maxx is a hybrid like the RTs.

Thank you for the awsome answer. You having actually had both i value your opinion.
I dont think i will ever go and put a rtt on this truck but i do still want to be able to hit rocks. Was kinda thinking extended rear leghth with a spring over to match the front +3.5
As im not a huge fan of SUA kits in the rocks as for the reasons you metioned. And it seems you pull some good numbers off your set up. I dont think the extra 3 inches wider will kill me on the trial. It will make it a little more challenging.
Well in China 3" is huge

Yeah, the STT and STT Pro were always definitely mud tires.

The STT is definitely an MT but maybe I didn't explain my thought very well. Saying a hybrid may not be as accurate, but the STT Pro is definitely not a "traditional" MT. You could say the same thing about the BFG KM2s though. Companies are trying to inovate the traditional design. I feel like the Maxx is a great design for an aggressive AT, but not quite what the RT has to offer.

Either way, I look forward to your review because I appreciate the tread patter of the Pro and I know you have high expectations for your equipment. Definitely considering once my current set wears out.

Cool. If you are keeping the tension bushings, make sure you don't torque the bolts down until the truck is back on its own weight.

Yeah, I torqued them down when it was under its own weight but had a fiasco with my torque wrench a couple weeks back (something with the internal gears got messed up). I though it was good but picked up another and found that everything was over torqued which was limiting the shackle movement.

I have the 4x innovations shackles that came with poly bushings. They are better than stock. But could be a lot better.

Are you running the 4x Innovations 3.5" with the Deavers or the 6"? Just curious since I have the All Pro Expos but can't afford a custom set of Deavers at the moment. I refuse to shackle flip but another 1.25" inch of lift is appealing with my BAMF relocation kit and the way my truck squats when loaded.

Regular 3.5" which is stock length. With inverted shackles if you get a longer shackle it lowers your truck. Don't do that.

Makes sense. I was considering the 6" shackle and installing into the factory hanger, but if I'm going to Deavers and upgrading to the BAMF hangers down the road then 3.5" would do.
