Went and hunted some fall colors before it's all covered in snow... which I'm kind of excited for as well haha!

In other news, I was able to get a copy of Inventor using my old college email so I'm gonna start modeling up a bed rack and various other things.

Today was interesting... Decided to check out Georgia Pass in order to try and get some final wheeling in before the snow shows up. Unfortunately we were a little bit late. A little ways down the trail we ran into a Wrangler and Frontier stuck in a snow drift. It got super sketchy since there was a huge incline directly adjacent to the trail. I learned a lot about trail recovery today and I learned that I NEED a winch...

Will do! It’ll mostly be how they do in snow on the trails because I typically drive my E30 if it snows in town, unless it’s a crazy blizzard or something. The E30 has super nice snow tires, an lsd, and the abs works so it’s surprisingly good in the snow and it’s more fun :D

Drifting is super fun in a low car for sure. Not so much in my 4500lb 3" lifted pig. At least not when there are hazards. Parking lot, hell yes

I'm super curious on trail traction with those things, for sure. The Dtracs are good, but I want a skinny tire, so looking at options right now...

I got the tires installed today. Unfortunately when I removed the fender to work on some clearancing, I broke every clip holding it on lol... I order some new clips but I also decided to restore the fenders while they're off. I plan on repainting them but I can't decide if I should rhino line them or just hit them with some plain old SEM trim paint...

Anyways here are some bad pics of the truck with the new tires.

I love the look of black fenders on lunar mist. Maybe see what they look like black and go from there. I see guys dipping them, but they don't seem to last. Bedliner looks like a rust cover up imo.

Yeah I just googled pictures of bed lined fender flares and they look pretty bad. I’m going to do either SEM trim paint or some other bumper paint. Just something nice and simple.

Hit a quick trail to test out the tires today. It was fun to get out on the trail again and the bigger tires definitely seemed to make the going a bit easier.

A few notes about the tires... So, I did the pinch weld mod and trimmed the front fender liner a bit. However, when the rear flexes, the tire rubs on the corners of the rear fenders a bit, so I have some more trimming to do. Aside from that, the wheels have been great so far. They haven't been noisey but I assume that might change a little once they start getting worn down.

A couple more things I forgot to mention.

I definitely need to address gearing... luckily I stumbled upon an entire front diff that has already been re-geared to 4.88 for a crazy good price. So I’m going to pick that up, replace all the seals that I can and do the ECGS bearing while the diff is out. Then all I need to do is swap that in and get the rear re-geared to 4.88.

Braking also really needs an upgrade. While coming down the mountains after the trail, I noticed my brakes starting to fade out. Stock 1st gen brakes already suck but adding all this unsprung, rotating weight definitely did not help them. So, I’m going to start to piece out a Tundra brake upgrade. I’ve been wanting to do that for a while now.

Small update on where I'm rubbing in the rear. Looks like it should be a pretty easy fix without doing too much work. I'm probably going to trim the edges and corners that are rubbing. But, I think I'm going to leave that large flat spot in the middle of the liner that's rubbing. I'm also going to swap all the hex head screws out for some flat head ones.

I also picked up that 4.88 front diff tonight for $50 :D

Although I'm not opposed to cutting in the slightest, some axle relocation plates will most likely fix your problem.

Dakars on these trucks always move the axle forward, so moving the axle back a touch will center the tires in the wheel wells and fix your rubbing.
