Can't do that in California. We have to get a full visual and diagnostic smog test done every 2 years, can't register your truck unless it passes both.

I don't understand, do you not register your truck every year? A smog certificate is required with your registration every other year. I mean I guess you could just ignore it and hope you never get pulled over for not having current plates...

Or do you have "a guy" at a smog shop? Cause if you do I might want to meet him lol

There are a bunch of shops that will do it. The way around it is..... the shop just charges you for a repair plus the smog cert , like replacing o2 sensor and you get your plates.

Nope just such a small county it's not required. Just when you buy it and when you sell it

huh, I thought it was a statewide regulation...I always hear of people registering out of state to avoid smog restrictions but haven't heard of doing it in a different county. Can I put my truck in your name and register it there? :D:hattip:

It’s more mellow than LA, you got me there. Getting less so, though. I remember when we had *one* signal by the KFC, and no walmart or starbucks.

When my brother lived in Humboldt, CA he didn't have to smog his truck either. So it's certainly a thing.

    *Edit*
counties that are smog exempt in CA are: alpine amador, calaveras, del norte, humboldt, imperial, inyo, lake, lassen, mariposa, mendocino, modoc, mono, plumas, sierra, siskiyou, trinity, tuolumne
