Finished the last kicker in the front this am. Just used the sound deadening around the speaker 12"x 15" and behind the speaker [2] 6"x 15" top and bottom of the cross bar. Great sound! when I crank it up its now very clean and crisp, not muddled like before. Thx OP for this thread and all who have posted their helpful info. Plus it was fun getting to know my truck better.

Awesome! Glad you’re enjoying the results! Still loving the hell out of mine and makes me happy so many have piped in with tips and personal experiences. I too enjoyed getting to know my truck a bit better - pulling door apart seems daunting til you do it

    Cheers

Nice. Just spent $280 on everything you recommended in the OP. First mod for the new truck I picked up today!

Congrats! I wish I’d have known this was a viable option when I first took my truck home rather than be underwhelmed by the sound in my brand new truck ;)

    Enjoy the new rig!

Yeah, I checked the stereo for about fifteen seconds before I just turned it off on the test drive. Only because I had seen this thread earlier and knew there was an easy solution to it.

WOW! Just finished installing the tweeters and what a difference! Only took me 45min but was just taking my time. I'll try to get the rest of the door speakers sometime this week! Thanks @bshammer0 for starting this post!

Awesome! My tweeters come in tomorrow and I’m looking forward to doing the same thing. The rest of the speakers come in later this week so I’ll be watching your posts. Thanks OP for the thread and not letting me spend the ungodly amount for the original upgrade.

Just installed my OEM Tweeter Kit by Kicker - H631SFJ101 in under an hour with no problems except one that is. I don't want to leave my truck now. Amazing how just the tweeters alone make such a huge difference. I can't wait to put in my Crutchfield's when they get here but first it will be installing the Noico 50 mil. After the stereo install I think that I am going to have to take a Hiatus from TacomaWorld for awhile as I am going broke and want to save for some new rims. Still mind blowing at what a difference the tweeters make in improving the sound. Mind Blown:yes::yay::woot:

I just installed the Kicker speakers in my 2014. Everything went in perfect. Plug and play with the adapters and brackets from Crutchfield.

Awesome! Great to see a successful 2nd gen install - lots of folks have been asking so good to know it works out well! How's the sound production from the head unit to the speakers in the 2nd gens?

Did you just replace the lower speakers or did you do the tweeters as well?

The tweeters in this thread do not fit. I just replaced the 6x9s and the 6 1/2s in the rear doors. Still looking for a simple tweeter replacement.

The speakers are a huge improvement. The 2nd gen head unit seems to do just fine for what I'm looking for, definitely do not have to turn the volume up as loud as before and everything is nice and clear. I'm sure an amp or aftermarket head unit would kick thing up another notch though.

That's what I was thinking, but didn't know if you had figured something out for them. I am still leaning towards just getting a set of components for up front but can't really decide on which ones. Also if I should go with a 6 1/2 component or the 6x9's components...

So glad I found this thread! Installed the new tweeters (ordered from ebay) in about 30 minutes. WAY better. Now on to the doors!
