I have no dog in this fight but I heard on the news yesterday that 3rd gen Tacoma’s have been downgraded by some research panel due to reliability issues. Again, I don’t give a shit either way, just sayin. Maybe op can look it up and find it useful.

Yea I might really hold out a little longer and just buy new. I always wonder why people trade vehicles in less than a year . It’s either they don’t like it , can’t afford it,or it has some issues

Yeah, you really never know for sure about most used vehicles.

You can have a little fun with the dealers since you are not in any rush. Make them work a little.

Hoping you get something great, when you finally decided to make the jump.

    Good luck.

Agreed w/ buying new if possible, especially when dealing with trucks/off-roadable vehicles.

I bought a 2004 F350 crew cab V10 new in 04. Drove it up to 3 months ago and got a new 2017 Taco. Only one regret, I have a hard time figuring out where the so called outer bumper is. It like a low hanging pair of boobs always bumping into things. The passenger side is sporting scratches. No longer a garage queen. In truth I absolutely love this truck.

Ya I read a lot of things on the internet, however it's important to reasearch both sides and realize that not every thing you read on the internet is gospel. So I'm guessing you had shitty luck with your 3rd gen and had to go back to your old truck, sorry you had to go through something like this, that would explain why you feel the way you do.

Yeah, my wife gets together with the neighborhood ladies once and awhile, and she fills me in on all the latest gossip.

Most of that information is also bs and hearsay, lol, but you go girl...jk

This is my 5th Toyota PU - Have had all generations - One thing I don't like about my 2016 - Lack of manual control of the transfer case. I would have paid extra for the ease of operation in my 2001. Loved the fact that you could drive it like a 10-speed and shift from low to high on the fly - And it was an easy mod to have a 2WD Low. Other than that the present rig is superior in every way. Oh yes - they have ALL been Manuals....I enjoy driving the truck and not driving a computer (there are plenty on board the rig now, just not controlling the gear-box.

Gota be honest here... sometimes I get a little testy when frost or morning dew are on my mirrors, but then I turn on my heated mirrors and it's all smiles again

$9,000...wow, I read before I bought my ‘16 that Tacomas hold their value. Is 9k a good offer from them?

Oh, and let me say, I love my truck to death. Didn’t own a 1st generation, but no regret nonetheless.

I love my third Gen. I have it for almost 5 months and about to hit 5k miles. Not a single issue, just a lot of great memories!
