Thanks. Before I started this project, I was not able to read a wiring diagram. I can now! LOL

since the Tundra and Tacoma used the same front diff, I built a triangle jig out of bed frame that is mounted to a transmission mount and the front diff mounts. I welded it up on both sides. After lifting the cab on the Tacoma, I then cut out the original trans-cross member mounts off of the frame. I mounted the triangle jig to the front diff mounts. On the triangle jig, I mounted the trans-cross member with the original cross member mounts. This put the v8 transmission mounts in the correct location related to the v8 oil pan. It was designed to fit in this location. I then welded the cross member mounts in place. All that was left was the motor mounts. I had been studying singtoes build along with all others I could find. I noticed the motor mounts he used in the 4runner conversion looked pulled apart at the top, so I used one inch thick plate in stead of one half inch 1x9x4 to get the correct angle.DSCN7395.jpg

here are the motor mountsDSC00006.jpg DSC00008.jpg Notice the bracket that the wire loom attaches to. I had measured the distance and location on the original v8 mount to get this just rite.

DSC00009.jpg DSC00012.jpg I used a high lift jack to lift the main 4x4. I took out blocks one by one substituting with small pieces of wood like that on the evap canister. keeping it level was key. 2 to 4 inches at a time then go to the other side.

DSC00019.jpg The engine bay with the cab set back on the frame. The wire harness and heater cooling lines were a piece of cake. Notice the stock fuse box in this photo, that will be changed later. On another build, "TorqueOfTheDevil’s" He started with a diesel (KZN-185). The radiator had the correct inlet and outlet for the v8 conversion. I tried really hard to get this stock radiator. I could not. I was however able to get an after market aluminum one from ebay. It was from Australia and it was delivered in 6 days.Aluminum radiator.jpg No drilling or modification needed. On the other hand, I was not able to get one with automatic transmission cooling lines.

Reading up on the builds, one of the problems were, having the cab work with the new computer. To get around this I decided to use all the tundra systems. All of the tundra wiring, from the engine bay to all of the dash. This would keep all the systems working as designed. I had to integrate the Tacoma heater, shift lock, emergency brake, door lock (rear doors), power windows, e-locker into the Tundra wiring. Sounds very discouraging I know. Looks worseDSC00026.jpg DSC00028.jpg I had purchased electrical wiring diagram manuals for both trucks. Some systems were similar in a way or so. One difficult system was the heater. The Tundra heater worked manually with cables, wile the Tacoma was servo motors. I cut out the heater wires from the Tacoma dash wire harness, like the spine of an animal. I then integrated it into the corresponding correct wires that were from the Tundra integration control panel plugs. I really had no idea if this would work. The fan motor and resistor were similar with only some wire repining at the plugs.

Yep. The truck was in a rear-end collision. When they fixed it, They took the back half of another bed and slid it into the back extending it 10 inches. They did nothing to the frame. They put a roll pan on the back. It had a lot of body work in it. When I did the v8 conversion I thought of extending the frame and putting a long box on it. But I was unsure that I would be able to get it done, so I did not do it. Look at where the wheels are, looks like they got smashed forward.

DSCN7451.jpg The main reason I had for moving the transmission cross-member was I wanted to be able to drop the transmission oil pan without removing the cross-member. It also looks clean.

This is my shift lever rod. I would like to change to a cable operated option. If I take off from a stop hard without spinning tires, It will kick itself into neutral some times.trans shift linkage (2).jpg

here is a before and after of the engine bay.DSCN6628.jpg DSC00310.jpg I still have to clean up the electric fan wires and finish mounting the air box. Take notice of the fuse box. The ABS pump module is Tundra also. I was able to change all the spark plugs without problem but one. The drivers side rear plug was a pain. I had to remove the power booster to change it. I had not changed plugs in the v8 before. I assumed that they were like the 3.4 having a rubber boot that could bend. They were not.

Man, that is neat. Good job! I wish I was good with stuff like that. I can barely gas my truck up without spilling everywhere.
