I have a 17 Off Road Double Cab. I bought these sliders as they are advertised as no drilling or welding is needed. According to RCI there are 5 bolts that hold them on from the outside of the frame and then the one underneath on the drivers side. I have the one underneath and everything is lined up. However, I am only seeing 3 holes that can be used but one of those have the bolt coming through brake lines which is not really a good idea. Has anyone else seen this and what did you do? I really don't want to have to drill my frame.

    Thanks

You might have to pull off the circular sticker and rectangular plastic tab. Those can be two extra holes.

This, that's where the missing holes are.

also, for the brake line thing.. you will need to buy a much shorter bolt from HD. The one supplied by RCI are all the same size and after you bolt it, it will not allow you to secure the brake line box thing back because of the length of the bolt. I had temporarily put about 6 - 8 spacers until I can get to HD and get the shorter bolt.

So, on the passengers side thing were much easier but only 4 not including the one from the bottom) lined up. This included taking out the plastic cover. On the Drivers side was a different story. I took the plastic cover out but that game me only two usable holes that were aligned. There was one that is between the frame and the bracket that all the break lines run through. However, I really don't trust that so close to those lines. Then there was another right on the brake lines as well. Even with a shorter bolt as it was the nut that was rubbing the brake lines. Looks like I will go get a couple spots welds as I don't want to drill the frame. I did go look at a friends 2016 and the holes in his frame are different than on mine and he had no problems with it. Apparently Toyota changed those holes but RCI has yet to change how they mount.

Check gain. I thought the same thing at first. I was doing it by myself and started with the bottom hole. None of the others would line up. There are 2 holes on the bottom of the frame very close. I was trying to use the wrong one and it was throwing everything off.

@eyekwah, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I was about to order the RCI's today before I came across this thread. Not sure I want to put additional holes in my frame if I don't have to.

Just installed mine on a 2017 today. I was a worried it might be a hassle after reading various posts.
Everything lined up (note Harvo's post regarding the two closely spaced bottom holes). A few odd bits and pieces to remove and reinstall but no big deal. The bottom bolt and two side bolts (provided) to the rear of that are pretty solid. The front half, however, doesn't have that much securing it to the frame - just a few smaller bolts holding on various parts. I'll probably drill holes and install the two remaining bottom bolts on each side before any serious rock crawling or jacking using the sliders as a jack point. Seems solid enough for some lighter stuff.

Mine had no issues, drilled the extra holes for lifting strength.

Here is a pic of the ones near the brake lines. IMG_1412.jpg IMG_1413.jpg

They just need some very slight tweaking and you'll be set.

    linked to my thread.

    I never updated that.

But for OP there is a hole at the front that is actually there. Just has a plastic cap in it.

Its in the boxed portion of the frame if you look in you will see the cap in the back. I found out after I had already mounted mine, I gave it a smack with a chisel and all good.

I also changed it to 1/2 grade 8 hardware with square washers. I have four per slider plus a few 3/8s in some spots where you can get them too.

I've lifted off them now with a hilift no issue. though I prefer not to.
If you can't find what one I'm talking about near the front of the vehicle that has the plug let me know I can take a pic for you.

And the one near the brakelines you're concerned with I just put it the other way bolt head inside the frame and also covered said brake lines with some fuel line to keep the dissimilar metals apart

I had the same problem on the drivers side not lining up and it was because of the slight angle that I was attempting to bolt them up. It is difficult to hold the sliders up to the holes perfectly level and parrallel to the ground, but once I took it all off and put it back up the holes lined up. It might help to have someone else help hold them up.

Yeah, I was able to remove the sticker and plastic grommet. But I cannot reach behind the frame to hold the backer plate and nut because the brake lines are in the way. Did you have to move the brake lines?

So I have the RCI sliders for my 2016 Tacoma DBLCB, short bed. The passenger side went on fine. But the driver's side has all the brake lines running behind the frame where the bolts are supposed to mount. I think I'm okay with most of the bolts, but the front bracket needs to be installed. I cannot reach behind the frame to hold the backer plates and bolts, because the brake lines are in the way. Do I need to remove and move the brake lines to reach back there?

There is a bracket near the front holding the brake lines. IIRC there is a bolt with a 10mm head holding said bracket. Take that loose and it should give you enough clearance to get the bolt into place.

Thanks for this info. I was getting ready to put a call in to RCI about that issue.

Also wondering if you've had any problems with the bolt that sits between the two brake lines a little further back to the bed. I can see the lines are insulated with a plastic coating but they make contact with the lock nut. I don't like the idea of parts rubbing together with the vibration of driving. Especially is it's a brake line.

Has anyone else had any issues with this?
