Had a new clutch kit put in my 2003 tacoma about 3 months ago. I took it to a mechanic shop that has a good reputation in town. I was very pleased with how easy it went into gear, and shifted at first. But it didn't take long, maybe a week before I began to realize the truck was shifting rough like it did before the clutch was replaced. 1st gear is very resistant now, and then from there all gears are rough when engaging. No grinding but a lot of force to shift. Sounds very whiny as well, even when just sitting still in neutral.

you are going to have to take it back to the installer... maybe it is a part failing or something new.
