Once it ruined my paint and scratched my tail gate that's were I put mine. But they did refunded my money. Then they stopped making it.

I am having issues with my driver side C4 Fab tailgate mount rubbing as the opening is too small on the driver side. I have a bigger gap on the passenger side, and it looks like I would have no rubbing if I mounted to that side. I would like to switch my driver side mount with someone who has a C4 Fab mount for the passenger side. If nobody has one to switch or only wants to sell theirs, I am willing to purchase and sell mine.

    Thank you.

Please refer, if you know someone who is wanting to sell their passenger side mount.

Need some help @WileECoyote since you seem to be the CB/Ham guru haha. I installed a Uniden Bearcat 880 with 18ft coax and a 3ft firestick on a bed mounted schmellfab mount. Right now I am getting SWR of 1.8 on channel 1; 2.5 on channel 40 and I believe 1.6 on channel 19 if I remember right. When I run the diags on the radio I pass at antenna match but I am failing RF out. I receive loud and clear with the weather function but have no one to really test with at the moment to transmit. I have tried several different variations of grounding the mount but nothing is working. There are no kinks or abrasions in the coax. No clue what to do here other than possibly buy a new radio.

Are you tuning in a open area? Not close to any trees or buildings? Have u tried increasing the tune bolt up or down then retake readings?

Tried both. Yesterday I spent hours messing with the tune tip and retaking the diags. SWR will change accordingly but it still fails RF out

Do you know if the radio is good?

Have you checked all the grounds? I used these articles to check out my system.

    Right Channel Radios Article One

    Article 2

I built a remote face Cobra 29 radio that passed the SWR check but had an RF output fail. I ended up rechecking all the wiring and did find a bad connection, which I cleared up ut still never got great performance out of. I'd confirm the antenna setup is good and then I'd tend to think your radio is suspect.

That is what I'm leanings towards now. I pulled all the coax out and re installed just to make sure but unless it's a bad internal on the coax then it looks fine it's brand new wiring. My mount and ground are good I do know that. I think I'm going to hit the radio shop tomorrow after work and have them take a look.

Are you using internal or external SWR meter?

Using an internal swr do not the most accurate. But for what it's worth I'm getting a decent swr rating it's just failing on the RF output

Firestiks are garbage. That is more than likely your problem.

Didn’t know they were the problem. I haven’t heard anyone with issues on basic set ups

They are a very popular antenna and I could never understand why. Difficult to tune, easily broken and hard to mount and get a good SWR. I've always stuck with Wilson mag mounts and never had a problem. No tuning, no grounds or mounts and superior performance.

Got to get an antenna more like this, stainless steel centerload. Love this thing

Yep. Or a good old fashioned whip antenna.

Whips are good unless you go offroad, then they’re death sticks

I caught a spectator in the mouth with a 1/4 wave whip and she was not pleased. After that, I bought a Firestik. That whip was awesome though.

If it was a GND issue (shorting), your SWR SHOULD skyrocket!!! So???????????????

Your SWR is pretty HIGH though (2.5), but still not toooooo bad although it's getting there for sure!!! The others are okay.

In either case, by you getting a SWR reading gives me a little bit of hope your output finals are okay. So, yeah, this is a good one???!!!

I also know that I'm "late to the game" so have you gone to the radio shop yet?

As someone else seemed to point out, it could definitely be the radio??? Again, were you able to go to a radio shop?

I just recently tuned my 4ft Firestik with a SWR of around 1.6-1.7, but I figure that is as good as it will get due to the fact that it is behind center cab. With my Francis, I was getting roughly the same SWR. To have a SWR of 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 is still well within reason. Can it get better, possibly yes. But again, 1.6-1.7 is about typical readings.

I do have a 9ft whip that I plan on mounting once I get a mount fabbed up. I'm definitely lagging in that department!!! LOL!!!

But yeah, I hear ya. Just saying I've never had problems with mine.
