I'd be lying if I said I haven't priced out a 2500 Ram with the Cummins and stick shift... :anonymous: I love that Cummins engine, it's just a shame that it's wrapped in a Dodge wrapper. Half tons are getting so expensive, I'm fairly confident that my next truck with be a 3/4 ton. If I'm going to pay that much, I'm getting some additional capacity out of it.
The Ford ecoboost engines are all designed to be run on 87. None of them require 93. The SVT vehicles may be the exception to that, but I know none of the more base models require anything higher than 87.

Have you seen how well the 5.0 Cummins is doing in the Titan? I started looking into them and it seems to have some issues. Cold starts are a nightmare and there are some other gremlins lurking in that engine.

Check out the 3.0 Lion diesel in the Land Rover. That's likely the engine that the 2018 F150 will get.

I'd love to find a 1994-2001 2500 with the Cummins and a manny tranny, but putting a plow on one would be pointless because it'd break my heart to drive it in the winter. At this point to find one that's rust-free you've got to get out of the salt belt, and bringing one here to DD year round would practically be a crime. Even if you had it undercoated and fluid filmed it'd still have that damned calcium attacking it.

Finding one of those in good shape would be tough at this point. Most of them are so old now, they've made their way to farm vehicles or something similar so they're pretty beat. That's the old 12 valve version, right? Those things were tanks.

Yeah, 12v until midway through 96 or 97 when they went to 24v. That's the challenge, they're either beat to hell because people used them like they were intended (as work trucks) or they're pavement queens that the sellers want all of the $$ for.

    Edit-
    Case in point:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-Dodge...ash=item3d4b44232b:g:IW8AAOSwP4ZZ3FEU&vxp=mtr

20K for a 20 year old truck with 170k?

IDK who taught you to drive but you should NEVER park a car in neutral! Even though you're using your emergency brake you should always park your truck/car in gear for a backup in case the cable breaks. Without doing that it's a 4000 + lbs safety hazard!
Yes but honestly bolt on is plenty strong enough!

That was mid-98, I have one of the first 24v versions. Nice truck until it started costing me more to drive to/from work than I was making at the time.

I was thinking of getting another little one for my cab, and a bigger ABC for the bed.

Are they OK to be out in the elements? I've been putting off getting one for a while now. I'd store mine in the bed since I have a cap so it'd be in freezing temps potentially for a few months out of the year and boiling hot temps for the several months also.

I have a 6lb ABC in the bed and I'm still thinking of adding a 3lb to the inside of the cab.

Both of mine are abc with a rubber hose because if you light in a wheel well or hard underbody spot that requires spraying upwards without a hose the extinguisher is useless they don’t really work if more than 30deg angle. Especially with skids you want to be able to punch the hose in there and let loose

XL Gripfists mounted to the bedside with rivnuts right above the wheel well hump. It's right under the windoor on the driver's side of my cap,
