    Hello all!

My son just bought a 2002 4Runner Automatic. Has pretty high miles, 246k but everything checked out on the test drive. Motor sounded good, tranny shifted smooth. Price was right at 4995. Bought it and sure enough, halfway home, lights go off like a christmas tree! CEL for low catalytic threshold probably 02 sensors and the VSC trac and VSC OFF lights came on. It is still running and shifting smooth but can't seem to find anything relating to the vsc lights. Is this just a sensor or wiring issue causing both lights to come on?

    Adding pics of lights.

Modified the level of gas in the tank
no worries with vsc and trac...its a toyota thing. When you get an O2 CEL it trips the others as well. Same on my 06 Rav4

pull the codes, fix the (probable) O2 sensor and clear the codes...should clear it all up

Not sure if its the same for yours as it is for my 08, but double check your gas cap as well and make sure it is secured tightly.

Thanks for the help guys! Will fix O2 sensors and see if that fixes it. Will report back when done.

+1, take of the fuel cap and put it back on and twist it until it clicks. Also, if it isn't a factory gas cap, I have had those set off my warning even though the cap was brand new and supposedly made for my vehicle.
