if you have the regular version (not ruggedized or whatever) it's just a thin sheet of aluminum that bends when you focus weight on a small area. if this is the cringling you are referring to = normal.

Sounds like extra slack in the bottom.

Sounds like you should get a midget with a camera
    Sound right to you @jberry813?

    I retract my earlier post.

From this one i gather you did indeed meet the requirements of 3 adults and a midget with a camera. Well done.

Oh shit- didn't know we were measuring. Either @Iggy or I probably have the highest mpC (midgets per camper) rating. There's no standard imperial to metric conversion yet, but we all know the Europeans have us beat.

Yes. I made the mistake of removing the mattress to clean the inside. No padding when crawling to clean made it happen.

the base under the mounts is generally solid but i find that i have to be a bit more careful moving my weight around on the overhang half that's supported by the ladder else, CRUNCH!

Hey guys, just a heads up.....
REI has a Yakima Skyrise 2 (2-person) rooftop tent for sale for a good price. $500.
It was "damaged in shipping" but i didnt see anything more than maybe cosmetic. Sounds like a pretty good deal for someone looking to get a rooftop tent for cheap!
Its at the Concord, CA. REI in Diamond Blvd shopping plaza

Also, i confirmed today that Poler outdoor from Oregon has teamed up with Yakima and will release collaboration limited rooftop tents around Christmas time.
Theyre good tents, and while not the more durable quality of others like Tepui, etc, theyre priced well and work great for guys like myself who arent going to be using them extensively. I plan to snatch one up myself- I have a couple of Poler tents and LOVE them best tents ive ever owned. Super easy to setup and good quality. Not the lightest, but coolest for sure.
Thought I'd pass on the info incase any of you guys like Poler/ Yakima brand and are on a budget like me.
Here's what it will look like:

Good to know the sound is normal and I'll have to look into the ply boards.
