The truck: 17 DCSB TRD OR.

The skid: old model CBI front skid for 3rd gens.

Ok so this CBI skid is not fitting how I would like. There is about a 3/4" gap because the brace it bolts to is curved down on each side and it is to wide to fit between the curves.

    I have a couple options:

    1. Get longer bolts and use washers as spacers and let the gap be. Will that gap be an issue? Will it bend up in the middle?

    2. Cut the corner out of the lip on both sides. Will it still have enough strength around the bolts?

Any other ideas or comments would be very helpful!!

@CBI Offroad Fab any advice would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

Looks like @Mobtown Offroad has the skinnier front so cutting that square out should be fine.IMG_8522.jpg

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
Seems like it should have fit if it was made for a 3rd gen...

The skid is an old version that was purchased from our garage sale list. Our old skids only fit the 2nd gen tacos. To fit the skid on the 3rd gen the skid will need to be notched to fit the crossbar in front as shown in above post. All of our new skids fit 2nd and 3rd gen models.

If [OP] has any questions on making this skid fit please give us a call and we can help you out.

Thank you for the response CBI!! I was not trying to complain at all since I had bought the skid from the garage sale, I just wanted to make sure it was ok to notch the corners. Please anyone ready this thread do not take it that I was trying to bash CBI, their customer service has been EXCELLENT!!

you got a steal if it was from their garage sale listing... they have great marked down prices! I was looking for a while and the rattle from the oem skid I hacked up twisted my arm enough to just buy the skid plate outright lol like others have stated the notch shouldn't be difficult and from the looks of others in the market seems to be the way 3gen IFS are being made...
