I'm the same, but I want close proximity to work. Also, family is in Arab so South Huntsville makes that really close.

That's another factor that's personal too.

that's why my initial question to OP was "do you want to be close to family"?

Dang, great info! Truly appreciate it!

My commute right now flirts with 40-50 minutes depending on the time I leave, that's for 25 miles one direction.

The 2.5 ish hours from F&F if we go the Huntsville route would be about the max. Close enough you can make a day trip out of it but far enough you want to make sure they will be home...

I live in SE Huntsville and love the area. We have quick access to the greenway which goes all the way to and along the river. There are a few nice hiking trails along the mountain. Sidewalks in every neighborhood. If you end up working out on the arsenal, Redstone road is a very easy gate to get into, barely any backup at all.

What I don't like about SE Huntsville at the moment. Limited restaurants in the direct area, taxi ride to downtown is $25, most "social settings" are 20-30 minutes away.

One key point a lot of people don't think about is living west of where you work. You are driving into the sun in the morning, driving into the sun in the evening. The primary East/West corridor for Huntsville is I565 and you can tell when the sun is hitting the main commute times.

I would also try to avoid travelling over Governors Drive or Cecil Ashburn daily.

We just got back from a trip out to visit and are kind of dig'n the open spaces and the privacy of the lot sizes in the area we were in.

We are getting our thoughts together and coming up with questions to bring up and ask for help with.

Appreciate all the help so far! Thank you!
