I'd say desert running and aesthetics is probably enough of a reason to go for it. You're already lifted a little and you're asking people how to do it right. There's no shame in any of that.

Nah, there are way more people rolling around on Maxtrac 6" lifts than drop bracket lifts.

If you want me to split hairs I can point this stuff out too :

    1. You said a drop bracket limits your turning radius - FALSE, this only happens with Fabtech's stupid spindles and/or if you installer is a moron and did not grind the steer stops down to the appropriate point.

    2. Your sway bar comment - FALSE, this only happens with a shitty install.

You bought the bottom of the line drop bracket spacer lift, got a crummy install and now your POV is skewed which is understandable.

Still splitting hairs and yes the sway bar drop is low. So check your shit. So you mod it then mod it again. A lot of people don't know about cutting down the stops. You need to quit being so condescending. Or knock off the smart assery. It may be cute to you but the internet finds it annoying.

Nope, you completely misunderstand my intentions. I just hate it when people bash drop bracket lifts and continue to spread false info about drop bracket lifts on this forum due to incorrect information, assumptions or negative personal experiences based upon bad installations. Did your installer flip the sway bar upside down per the installation instructions ? ... 9/10 folks that mention the low sway bar issue did not have the sway bar re installed correctly. The instructions show to flip the sway bar upside down so that the dip in middle goes up instead of down however tons of people on this forum have posted pics of that "dip " hanging down low because it was not re installed properly.

Here is an image of a sway bar on a drop bracket lift that has been installed correctly, it is virtually invisible because it has been flipped over per the installation instructions. Zoom in and look real close, the sway bar is hidden up behind the cross member.

So, please tell me what part of my " shit " I need to check ?

99% of everything stated applies, just an FYI dude. If you are having all of those problems you descirbed most are easily corrected with some light elbow grease. Even your ride quality issue you mentioned - the spacers in your 6" lift kit do not change the ride quality because the spacers are installed over the top of the CO they do not compress or "pre load " your spring therefore you are riding on the exact same shocks and springs that you had pre lift. There is a 99% chance that you stepped up to a bigger tire when you got your 6" lift and when you bought bigger tires you bought load range E tires...that is where the shitty ride comes from. The tires that most of us " upgrade " too are intended for full size trucks that are 2000 lbs heavier...we get the durability we want but they ride like shit period.

this is a good point I hadn't thought of, though I should have, I have a 3" lift now and just barely can get under the low beams in the parking garage at the hospital where I work. Any higher and I wouldn't make it.

If its an unknown garage, I will pull in a little bit and check out the clearance.

Im only at 5" but sometimes I swear I wont be able to clear!

Rather take an extra minute and be safe than sorry.

My truck (6" PC lift) cleared the garage by 2-3 inches (7' opened height), then I put on a Prinsu rack. No more clearance.

Obvious solution (no, not removing the rack) - I'm building a new garage......:annoyed:

Agree. Drop bracket lifts are totally non-functional on even the easiest trail.
