There's not too much to this truck. I had a four-cylinder powered Tacoma for a little while and then decided that I wanted some more power but a wheelbase that isn't too terribly long. So in December of 2015 I bought this 2008, 4x4, 5.7L powered regular cab Tundra for about $20,000.

    Modifications:
    ARB Locking Differential
    3rd Generation Tundra wheels
LT285/70R18 Nitto Exo Grapplers (these things are great in the snow) Gone
    LT285/75R18 Yokohama Geolandar G015 A/T tires

Blue Sea Systems Safety Hub 150 with 100A input breaker
    NorthStar battery (27F)
    Odyssey battery (34R)
    King 2.5 shocks
VisionX 6.7" Light Cannon (spotlight pattern)
    Rigid Industries LED flood lights
    Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller
SPC Light Racing Upper Control Arms
    Weather Guard toolbox
probably some other stuff that I'm not thinking of...

Before I modified it too much (but after I removed the 20" wheels that it came with):

Here are a few random updates for the Tundra in no particular order:

    1. The Nitto Exo Grapplers reached the end of life; one of them developed a bulge in the sidewall.

Enter the Yokohama Geolandar G015 A/T in the size of LT285/75R18.

    DSCF5410.jpg

    2. I painted the tow hooks red.

    DSCF2727.jpg

    3. I swapped out some of the damaged interior trim panels and aftermarket incandescent lighted switches for LED lighted switches.

    DSCF2447.jpg DSCF2498.jpg DSCF2501.jpg

    4. The old compressor was mounted in the driver side frame rail and a little more exposed than the new bracket and larger (CKMA12) compressor.

    DSCF3838.jpg

    5. I threw some grip tape in the floor behind the driver seat.

    DSCF3855.jpg

    6. I also got an amber warning light, tow mirrors, and threw some reflective tape on the tailgate.

I have put up a number of dash camera videos from my off-road adventures and a few on-road gaffes. The quality will vary as I have a couple of different dashcams and video editors but I would say that the majority have come out well.

Yes, I've used some trisodium phosphate, isopropyl alcohol, and I initially took the badges off with a 700/1500W heat gun. It probably doesn't help that the truck is over ten years old. I'll try some specific adhesive removing chemicals later but it will probably always stick out unless I repaint the truck.

I added a single VisionX 6.7" Light Cannon to my truck to replace the two flood pattern cubes from Rigid. I also re-routed some of the accessory grounds for components I installed to the cab from the auxiliary fuse block to have fewer wires going through the firewall along with replacing the old wiring harness for my lights. It would seem that I stretched the cabling too far with how I installed it and was getting a high contact resistance as measured from each Deutsche plug to the lights (~14.4 kΩ). The harness started to work normally again after I pulled it out so I suppose that I'll just use it for testing purposes at this now.

Thank you and yes, there are not that many of them around anymore. Production of the Tundra Regular Cab ended with MY 2016.

It was time for a new battery, some new terminals, and I changed up the accessory wiring a little bit:

What a nightmare it is to debadge the Tundra.

    Nice truck BYW!

We’ve had ours for about 7 years now. These days it’s only used for hauling the trailer around. Bench seat and vinyl floor, manual windows and locks lol. Didn’t even have intermittent wipers when we bought it.
