Bilstein 5100 1"-1.5" lift

Hello,

I was told Marie at Headstrong was the only person I should be reaching out to about a lift, because she's the best.

I'm looking to get an 1"-1.5" lift in both the front and rear of my 2008 double cab Tacoma. I want to do the 5100 Bilsteins, but I'm trying to find out everything I need to do it right.

Aside from the shocks, what else would I need? Coils and an add a leaf seems to be the general answer to get about an 1"- 1.5" in both the front and the back. Does this sound right? Do I need the add a leaf? Thanks in advance for the help!

I got about 1.25" of lift in the front of my '04 using 5100's set to 0" and OME 881 coils from Headstrong. I also put in their 3 leaf AALs (kept the overload leaf in) in the back and got about 2.5" in the rear, so I have a bit of rake but I don't mind it. If you want to sit level, might be better to use just a single AAL

 

Hi Marie, I'd like to see the answer on this one as well. I have a 2010 DCLB and I'm looking for 1 to 1.5". I'm getting my recall pack installed in the next day or two so I don't know what that'll do to the height. I'm not planning on adding any weight up front, I'd just like a spring/5100 combo that gives a great ride. Thanks

I am so sorry that it took me awhile to get back to you. I am working on a PM now.

 

I'm looking to replace my 10 years old tired and worn out TRD stock suspension in the next few weeks or months (about 125k miles on it). Would like to get around 1" of lift or so, since it appears front of the truck sagged a bit over the years. Just have fresh recall 4 leaf springs installed. Unloaded, truck sits 20" center of hub to fender up front (both side are equal) and 22" hub to fender in the back (again both sides are equal). Running one size up 265/75/16 AT tires already.

Started doing some research and this is what I came up with. Definitely do not want to deal with vibes and such issues, don't really have budget for UCA's so with this very mild lift, I would hope I should be good to go and have no issues with good alignment either. Would prefer to keep a bit of a rake, but fairly level is fine as long as it does not go nose high while loaded up.

Here is what I picked: 883 coils with 5100 @ 0 for around 1" of lift after settling on a 4x4 DC. My understanding is since aftermarket coils such as OME are identical in length unlike stock coils, I will need 1/4" top plate spacer on the driver side to correct a lean I would supposedly get otherwise. I would be pairing these with 5100 in the back.

I'm also planning to get either Hellwig 979 helper springs or Sumo springs in the back to help with carrying load and utility trailer towing. Apparently I can expect about 5/6" of lift with Sumos (possibly even slightly more) and 0-1.5" with Hellwigs depending how tight they are adjusted. I would like to stay at 1" of lift or under. I don't know if I need extended length shock then or if standard length would be fine.

In short, if all this looks correct, I would like to please get a quote for 4 5100's, 883s, 1/4" spacer shipped to Alberta.

Just to add, it is for a daily driver, and my extent of 'off-roading' would be forest service/logging roads.

Sounds like a good plan, I'm not familiar with the 883's but my 881's gave me about 1 inch of lift on my 4x4 Xtra cab v6 with the 5100s at 0". I know the 883s are longer so you may be looking at 2" with those, but I'm not terribly familiar with them.

As long as you stay under 3" you shouldn't need new UCAs

I too am in the market. I just had the recall rear springs put on my 2008 regular cab. It is going in for a frame in the next couple of weeks. I noticed the new springs are giving it a different stance. I am looking to put 5100s on the front for now and will eventally get them for the rear. I have the original front stock springs on the front.

 

Hi Marie, got referred your way from a few people saying your the shop to come to for advise on suspensions. I have an '07 access with stock suspension. Looking to get the 1.5"-2" lift and level to upgrade my truck when I upgrade rims and tires.

I'm all ears and would love any recommendations on a full setup

Okay, it's my turn. My main goal is to soften the ride but I want a slightly more aggressive stance also (keeping it level) so I'm looking at the Bilstein 5100's for a 1 to 2 inch lift as well. I'm a complete newbie and have no idea what I need. (Coils, AAL, ucas, etc.)There is so much info out there it's a bit overwhelming. I've got a 2012 access cab SR5 4x4 with 6 ft bed. I rarely go off road and stick to forest service/logging roads if I do and I don't have the bed weighed down with a toolbox or topper. I might tow a lightweight utility trailer at most but not very often. I currently have 245/75r16 and may go the next size up. I'm curious as to what you would recommend. I will wait patiently for your response.

Hey all! I've been looking into the Bilstein 5100 to put on my 2018 Tacoma Off-Road 4x2. I believe the front is just plug and play, and you set to the desired notch but not 100%. And for the Rear... Im a little lost. Leave it and just bring up front? ORR, if i do want an over all lift all around what would my options be? Around ($600-1000 for project) Can you help clear up my thought process. (no lean or rake)
