Just scheduled my 20k appointment to have this TSB done and for them to check fluid levels of the AT. Anything else I should put down for them to check? I just bought a 2016 TRD OR.

Check 2 things. Check your vin against the recall for rear differential leaks. Before you take it in crawl under the truck and see if there is any rear axle grease around the differential cover bolts. The cover is on the forward side of the differential. If you see leaks then demand they fix it whether it is included in the recall or not.

Just checked the VIN and it was not included. Will take a look at rear diff in the morning. Thanks for the heads up on that.

I was considering trading in my Honda for a Taco, but AFTER READING THIS FORUM, my Honda performs as expected and will sit on the fence at least 2 more years. Seems like a lot of xmission problems are in the news.

I cannot speak for everyone here but I have zero issues. My truck runs great and shifts great. I bought one of the early ones built 12/15. I had some minor issues. Had the 1st flash done on the tranny after 6 months. I then had the 2nd (rev 1) done 1 year ago. I NEVER had issues like some did. Mine ALWAYS shifted fine particularly on 2 trips to the mountains. I would say MOST trucks built after 11/16 do not have tranny issues as the updates were built into the trucks. At this time, at 16,500 miles, there is nothing else that I would own. If I needed more seating area I would buy a new 4runner. Thats it. Any new model of any new vehicle is going to have some issues. Honda is a good vehicle. Toyota is a great vehicle. The transmission is not the best most ideal perfect transmission but it works great for me. Given the fuel economy of such a big truck I can easily live with the 6 speed automatic. If you really read through the different threads you will find that this is an issue with a minority of these trucks. I think a good long test drive is warranted to make sure you get a good one. Especially if buying an earlier model. A lot of people traded theirs in before Toyota put out the 1st and 2nd flash updates. Another thing that is finally showing is that these trucks run and perform fantastic after reaching 12k miles. Mine runs better now than ever. I just think you are misleading yourself by strictly reading this thread. Read tacomaforum and toyotanation. Maybe I am a minority in this thread but I love my truck. Regardless of what you may have read by a few people Toyota has stood behind my truck. Not saying my local dealer is great but every issue I had was fixed and all is great. Toyota replaced the frames in my 2000 and my 2008 Tacoma so I know they will take care of us. For those with lemons I am sorry. Don't you know every manufacturer makes lemons. It happens. Unfortunate for those that get one but Ford, GM, Subaru, Nissan and, yes, even Honda puts out some lemons. I just think you are selling yourself short. Go out and test drive 5 new Tacomas. Take them on the interstate. Test that transmission. Test the highway cruise control. I bet you will find that most perform great like mine. Then you can put to rest your concerns about these trucks. Of just keep driving your Honda and miss out on a great vehicle like mine.

I will be looking at F150. I always check forums before buying. I used to have a lot of respect for Toyota. Not so much now!

No need to be a Toyota fanboi... I have owned 6 Toyotas and will not be buying one anytime soon. I am not loving my Honda, but i would rather have paint issues than xmission/engine problems.

Toyota hands you a piece of paper and now you are pleased with a vehicle that under performs. Sadly, this makes for a really poor precedent.

I find it enlightening since I am lucky enough to not have this pos yet! I may just tell Toyo to f off and buy a Nissan commercial van and put on aftermarket 4wd. Could not be worse than a bad engine/xmission combo!

Actually, a manual xmission is still a remote possibility, but having read this forum I am leaning away from p/u all together now. A Nissan commercial van is looking good about now. Mileage sucks but they have been bullet proof which is hard to find with all of the manufacturers scrambling to make mountain bike xmissions.

A lemon law attorney can help you. If you have the proper documentation it is an open and shut case. Attorney fees are paid by the manufacturer in these cases and attorneys love the easy money. type in your state and lemon law attorneys. Lehto's Law has a few youtube videos if you want it from a practicing attorney. If you signed an arbitration agreement then you have been hosed!

I love how people that don't even own the truck like to come here and bash the truck and the brand. Comparing a Honda to a Toyota truck is like comparing an Orange with a Hammer. People, its a truck! is not supposed to drive like a car, is not supposed to go 0-60 in 5 seconds it is not supposed to give 40 mpg. It is supposed to tow, go offroad and go where a regular car cannot go. Tell me one car that have not had issues in the first production year? You want a car or a pickup wanna be ?( I am looking at you Ridgeline) well be my guess, but giving opinions without facts just for the sake of it is a waste of time.
The FACT is that Toyota has always been recognized for their trucks around the world. Good examples are the Hilux, FJ-70 AND FJ-80, Fj cruiser, PRADO and the LAND CRUISER. You see these trucks all beat up and with more than 300,000 miles and still running like new. I don't see any other brand globally that can do that. For that and for many other reasons i will stick with Toyota and my Tacoma.
P.S no recalls on Honda Ridgeline ha ?

This reminds me of why the free maintenance on Toyota has 0 value. I prefer to do the service myself and know it is actually done correctly.

I have read one too many trucks with low xmission fluid coming from production line. I simply do not trust Toyota and will not give them my money under any circumstances. Adios to Toyota forever!

Another item on my checklist for a new vehicle. No xmission dipstick = just walk away.
