Does the safe not have adjustable feet? Home Depot should have some adjustable, heavy-duty risers that you can put it on.

We're talking a 900lb safe and then bolting it down

    I wouldn't trust those

    Plus stuff in the safe.
I like the steel.plates with a rubber barrier.

Easy to do, easy to drill n bolt.
Nothing to collapse when. You add that 40th long gun or the 24l5th hand gun.

And that’s why they don’t come with adjustable feet. LOL

I don't think you even need to bolt it down just tilt safe and place if possible

Since it's going in the garage, it will be bolted down

Eventually I hope to find an old cabinet to disguise it

Rust can stain Concrete as well, better to get some rubber or plastic barrier to lay down first.

Have you ever seen how easy a safe can be moved and how fast. If you had, you would understand why we bolt them down, it’s just too slow them down

I was lucky enough, when I did my safes a friend of mine had some special snap together plastic flooring with these half radius knobs all over the surface and designed to go underneath room size servers. That was the ultimate stuff

My mind was on a completely different line of thought, not actually securing the safe...

LOL, I watched three guys and a dolly manipulate a class 50 safe around openings, stair rises and into my vault like it was A cardboard box . Kind of dumbfounded me a little bit on how damn easy that was

I was going to say but someone already mentioned, why not use a plastic barrier? If you’re worried about rust.

I'm not terribly concerned with rust as there won't be any water standing around the safe...but I do live in a rather humid area so the possibility exists

Rubber, plastic, either way something will be between each layer

Concrete has a tendency to absorb and hold moisture more than people realize. Depending on how the foundation was laid (code requirements) you'd still want some sort of vapor barrier between the metal and the concrete. General rule of thumb in construction is that you never want wood in direct contact with concrete because it will absorb moisture and rot. In your case, the metal will rust. I'd suggest something more than paint, FYI.

Perhaps we can verify with @OZ-T and hear his suggestion. He's the knower of these type of things.

What would make a good not ugly vapor barrier between a steel base holding a massive safe and concrete

I didn't read back so somebody may have suggested it but anything that isolates the metal from direct concrete contact like a rubber mat or similar surface that isn't porous and won't absorb water from the concrete
