I'm heading to Southern California/Arizona this winter for an overland trip. Too cold most other places to really camp. Moab gets real cold during the winter.

Death Valley, Mojave, Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego are some of the places on my list. Still early in the planning phase for me.

haha, i just hit up an easy trail where only 4x4 are allowed, no bikes or quads etc. the trail was Font's Point, Im sure you heard of it. Its about 15-20 , minute drive. Easy peasy! nothing to worry about at all, in terms of difficulty. There are plenty of spots along the way where you can pull up and pitch a tent. The park is huge! Gets real busy on the weekends as well.

Nice. Wish I had more funds to get down to SoCal to wheel more often.

Awesome man, Im trying to plan a 5 day trip to Arizona- trying to figure out if the weather permits in December for that. I was also thinking White Sands in New Mexico. But it all else fails might just still to the Cali deserts. LMK what you end up doing, maybe we can roll together.

I’m down for some desert camping/wheeling! I have a roof top tent arriving next week but unfortunately my bed bars won’t be arriving until late December/early January.. I’m down to go out and break it in when they arrive! I’m local in Pasadena too!

When the family and I want to escape the "cold" Sacramento winter weather, we usually head to the coast.

I've been to Point Reyes multiple times in December/January and it's basically shorts/t-shirt weather on the beaches. Maybe in the 60's... San Diego area is basically 60-80's all year long.

I've been have been Death Valley in January, and it can get pretty freakin cold. The days are nice, but damn it can get cold at night.

Camping year round in Idaho means possibly spending the night out in sub zero temps. I head to Moab to go someplace warm in the winter.

I have spent the night out on the ground @18 below zero in Idaho so the mid to high 20's in Utah feel pretty good

Not really overlanding, but it’s camping. Depending on your camping gear, Bryce and Zion are nice to checkout in December. No crowds. It does get down below freezing though. But if you have the right sleeping bag and pad it’s not too bad.

Moab gets pretty chilly at night right now.

Escalante and the Zion NP areas were mid 30s at night and mid-50s (but REALLY) windy during the day the last few weekends. Great riding weather!
