If you're like me and have trouble sleeping after night shift, try melatonin. That shit works wonders for me.

My wife works 3rd and uses melatonin, she swears by it. I prefer bourbon.

Too many but also not enough mods
I'm in and going solo. Any spots left in the campground? Just gonna sleep in the back of my truck.

Never gone off roading before so any tips and stuff I should bring besides boots, heavy coat and alcohol?

And heavy gloves for when you’re stacking rocks... or handling a winch cable.

There’s always a strong possibility of rain, which makes the trails muddy and slippery.

Rain gear, change of clothes, etc.

Try to imagine what might go wrong. Flat tire? Make sure you have tools and shit take care of it.

You don’t have to go out and buy a ton of crap. Look around your house or garage:

That 12x17” piece of pywood... excellent for floating your jack and truck above soft terrain

That small tarp? You could use that while you’re wallowing underneath your truck to beat back your exhaust after a hard hit.

Speaking about beating back shit? Grab your hammer.

If you don’t have everything, then that’s ok too. Others in your trail group will be happy to help out.

If I can make this trip, I’m probably gonna crash in my truck.

I wouldn’t worry about reserving a camp spot if you’re gonna do the same.

I think @Braves95 mentioned this in an earlier post.

@Skell mentioned some things. He's right. CB would be nice, but not entirely necessary, I bought one for our last trip and never used it other than just for talking shit while on the trail. The park didn't check for anyones fire extinguisher. doesnt mean to NOT bring one, but use your own judgement. Like @peaksandtroughs said, everyone is very welcoming and accommodating. We will help you with whatever, except for @Braves95. He'll stand there and take pictures of me while I'm helping @Arcticelf change a tire.

I was looking up hotel rooms for that saturday night. its at least 100$. looks like I'll be crashing in my truck also!!!

No cb so I would have to get handheld. Any recommendations?

I'll get a fire extinguisher today.

I got a handheld midland CB off Amazon. I think it was around 30 bucks? I also got the magnetic antenna. It seemed ok without the Mag Antenna, but I couldn't always hear the furthest person from me. I wasnt using the antenna because I neglected to buy the adapter to fit the antenna wire to my radio. hahaha

I opted for a small CB from walmart paired with a Firestik antenna. Works well and didn't break the bank, think I have less than $100 into the works and I can reach out there pretty good talking.

I'm lazy and don't like running wires so I got a 12v fused adapter. I ran my antenna cable between the console and passenger seat, under the rear floormat then up under and behind the backseat. When I'm wheeling I open the back window and screw the cable into the antenna. When I'm finished I coil the cable up loosely behind the rear seat.

I tried the magnetic antenna but it kept getting knocked off and was a giant PITA honestly.

Wheeling in the rain seems like a drag. Maybe we will get lucky and get good weather. 4 hours to wheel in pouring rain might turn me off
