Anyone running 17 inch p265/65/17 TRD sport rims on their 4 banger SR5, I maybe be able to get a set of Sport rims for free or at a very low cost from someone who just wants them out of their garage. Will these have any fitment or performance issues(bigger diameter)than my 245/75/16 steelies. Any input and pictures would be appreciated.

I had a set on mine for about a week, so there wont be any fitment issues, youre good to go there. As far as the larger tire, you may notice a very slight loss in power but its pretty much negligible imo. Ive got 265/70/17s on it now with fj wheels and added a bunch of weight and ive pretty much made up my mind to upsize to 285s now on stock gears. If you have a 5spd you wont even notice the difference in power. That may be a different story if you have the 4spd auto, but my dad has 265/75/16s on his 4 banger 4spd auto and he doesnt have any problems with it. He also has an ARB bumper

thanx for the reply, my trucks an automatic trans and have been looking for the 16 inch TRD rims not much luck, these 17 inch TRD sport rims I might get for free or close to free since the guy wants them gone out of his garage, definetly would look better than my steel wheels and lighter weight I would assume,my only concern would be the performance factor this truck can barely move with the tiny wheels I have now.

I dont think you have anything to worry about on performance losses if you go with a 265/65/17 and stick to a p rated or c rated tire. I ran 265/75/16s (which is the same size as a 265/70/17) in load range e for a while, and it turned them no problem with a very minimal loss in power. With the lighter wheels like you mentioned and not a load range e tire, you should be fine

Heres a pic of the load range e’s i had on stock steelies. That was a really heavy wheel/tire combo, but the truck still did fine.

Let me know if you have any questions, im happy to help

the tires still have the Dueler HT P265/65/17 size on them, from what I can tell diameter is very close to the 245, but are a lot wider tread, which gives a better looking stance than the p245 pizza cutters.

I agree that 265s definitely look better then the 245s that came with the truck. That was one of the first swaps i did was ditching the crappy dunlops. If i remember correctly, the 4 bangers came with 245/75/16s while the v6’s came stock with 265/65/17 or 265/70/16s, depending on the model

yeah them Donecraps AT20 are sketchy on slippery roads, just having a wet rainy road can test your nerves, when I got the truck 2nd hand the stealership put on brand new AT20s so im trying to get my money out of them, they are ok on dry roads

other than the Donecraps im happy with the truck and getting the SR5, I can Mod it the way I want, not the from the factory way. I wish it had come with the TRD rims but it is what it is

You have an access cab? I like the color matched flares that come on the sr5’s! Wish my truck had them

Sounds like you got a nice truck! Like you said, the 2.7L’s are great as far as reliability goes. Ive got nearly 225k miles on mine and it still runs like a champ

Unless you find some bilstein take offs on craigslist for cheap, you can more than likely get some 5100s which have a little bit bigger shock body that have more oil in them (ie better dampening ability) for a little bit more and they would probably ride much nicer. The 5100s seem like one of the most affordable and popular options around here. Ill probably upgrade to those whenever mine wear out on my stock truck

Only thing Ive read about the 5100s is that they may have a tendency to leak(rears).Im not lifting the truck so im getting the 4600s they both have similar characteristics on the road. The 4600 are not the same as the factory supplied Bilsteins on the TRD , they have a bigger diameter than the wimpy factory TRD shocks
