A lot of crap and too much money spent
I'm sitting on a three inch lift with 255/80/17 and there was a spot in the beginning that I had a little problem getting past. I don't have a locker, with the offroad you should have a locker you might be able to make it past that spot easier than I did. If you're close to go camping up there you could always just take a day trip and check it out.
Do you have any skids or sliders?

I have heard from my cousin the road into the campsite has been pretty much graded. They needed to make repairs to the restroom or something. So unless you plan on doing portions of the other trails you should be in the clear. His words were "you can get a civic back there now" with a sigh of grief. This was last weekend

I ran it last year in my stock 04, in 4 high. The beginning was the hardest but with the right line it's pretty straight forward.

Damn! That sucks. It was nice to know that not everybody and his brother in a civic could get back there.

I totally feel you on the Civic's. But I was there last year (late July/ early August?), during Cruiserfest?; lots of stock & built rigs. And there were plenty of tards living kick ass lives at GL. The place was a zoo. The road won't stay "nice" long.

Has anyone been up this way recently? I was thinking of doing a trip to Gold Lakes Campground from Sierra City via Butcher Ranch Road.

Took my stock Tacoma through that route on Thursday. Im kind of a newbie, so there were 2 or 3 spots I needed a spotter, but nothing too crazy. The most difficult obstacle is right before you pull into the camping area, it got me up on 3 wheels. The route can get a little confusing, so I’d recommend downloading an offline map and using the gps to get you there - I used OnX. Btw - don’t count on camping at the OHV site, it was packed.
