Ive got a 2005 double cab and I'm looking to add some subs (one or two) behind the rear seat. Ive seen a lot of options on line but I'm wondering what would be the best option, mainly what box would fit and sound the best. I don't want to go cheap at all, I'm fine with spending the couple extra bucks to get a good quality box and what not.

Me too!!! Can’t wait to see what boxes everyone’s using, are you going to put it being the single fold down or the double fold down seat in the back? And also what’s size subs are you looking for? 8’s, 10’s, 12’s? Personally i like 10’s they hit perfect and sound cleanest. Do you have and amp already? If so what’s its power ratings?

I'm looking for a single 10 inch, probably going to be an apline type r, haven't found an amp just yet. More curious as to a good box that'll fit nicely without any rattle

I’m running 2 JL Audio 10TW3 in a box built by Mr Loginfailed.

I recommend just taking out those rear plastic bins completely. They rattle too much. The seats are in the up position 99% of the time so you never see the fact that they are missing.

The box takes up the entire width behind the rear seats. Those with storage concerns need not apply. I’m running a Leer 100XQ so any extra junk I carry goes in the back.

Running an NVX JAD1200 under the rear seat. This setup knocks really hard, especially considering the space available.

There are 5 access holes inset into the enclosure with M6 x 1.0 security head bolts that secure the enclosure to the back wall support beam via the original holes that were used to attach the factory plastic bins. The subs themselves are also bolted to the box with security head machine bolts.

Designed to retain factory plastic on the back of the seats so they are still usable when the seats fold down. Subs and enclosure do not touch the seats.

Love the JL 10TW3. I paired mine with a JL XD500/3 with components.

141D50AD-94B2-46F6-BA7A-340E5ECDCEC1.jpg I have this setup for sale in the market section. Perfect for a double cab. This is a Mr. Marv sub box and amp board.

I have a JL Audio 13TW5V2 - sounds really really nice and accurate, BUT you can only fit one of them relatively easily without turning the box build into a complicated 3 week fitment activity. I've also found it to be very durable because -

I pushed mine a little too much this past summer by turning up my head unit's output signal voltage and having the bass eq turned all the way up at 40 Hz. I probably was clipping at certain times without knowing it causing lots of heat, and I certainly had some distortion which I would immediately back off the volume. What I ended up with is a partially melted cone (now unbalanced) and a partially damaged voice coil. The 13TW5V2 shorts out perhaps 5% of the time now on start up, but when it plays, it never cuts out and still sounds perfect.

I've totally went back to earlier settings, and re-eq'd bass frequencies, and adjusted the x-over cutoff from 100 Hz to 85 Hz. The 13TW5V2 struggles with any midbass notes above 85 Hz. I'm running it until it dies or until I trade in the Tacoma, at which point I'll pay the $200 for reconing while getting a second one for a 4runner.
