Adjustable coils

I just recently bought a 02 Taco with Skyjacker front adjustable coils which are supposed to be able to give me 2in of lift, Im running 265/75/16 and cant even roll off my driveway without rubbing. I have tried to turn the top of the coil with that key but it wont budge. Do I need to do something to make it easier like jack it up to re leave pressure or something else.

 

do not try to adjust the coils with the truck still on the ground. bad things will happen. jack the truck up.

i'm not familiar with the skyjacker CO's but if they have a set screw loosen it and then adjust from there. the collar might be hard to turn so some lube might be needed. you can spray WD 40 on the thread and wait 10 min and that will help alot.

where are you tires rubbing? 265/75 shouldn't be rubbing a whole lot or at all with a 2" lift. post up some pics so TW can help you out better

 

Coilovers are a bitch to adjust, like stated, jack up the front and let the wheels droop then adjust, UCA and wheels maybe in the way so take your time. Make sure to get an alignment after.

 

easiest way to adjust them is to remove them from the truck. it's only 4 nuts and bolts. ..and the uca won't be in your way.

i'd also add some anti-sieze to the threads while you're at it.

 

if the coils are off the truck it's gonna be really hard to get the amount of leverage needed to adjust them if they are being a bitch and not turning.

 

Oh I didnt know about the set screw would it be an allen key, the coil is already wound down about 2in.The truck doesn't sit all that high, Im running Toyo M/Ts that are pretty aggressive so it rubs right where the mud flaps are SUPPOSED to be, the rear sits I would say about 2in higher than the front so Im trying to level it out a little.

 

yeah, the set screw is the small allen key fitting on the collar. you can see it here just to to left of the uni ball on the UCA

what's the back spacing on your wheels?

 

you must not have a vice ...or an imagination.
i can think of a half dozen ways to keep the end stationary while i spin the adjustment collar.


i'd also suggest you get a nice pair of gloves with knuckle padding if you plan on adjusting the coilover while it's on the truck.
