Disassemble it, pressure wash, and take it somewhere to be blasted. For a single project that's going to be your best bet IMO.

Your compressor wont keep up with a blaster which will just frustrate you. I have a Quincy QT-54 and it runs a ton when blasting.

As for media its pretty much how abrasive they are. Sand is pretty abrasive and good for thick rust. Glass is sort of a medium grit compared to soda and sand. Soda blasting isn't very aggressive but good cause it doesn't hit the metal as hard. That's a very basic explanation though.

 

thinking of buying their mini chainsaw with the extension handle. anyone use one of these? time trim overhead branches next spring

 

I am a big harbor freight fan. My father-n-law is a retired mechanic and has a lot of snap on and Mac tools that he has acquired over the years. I like going into that place with him because he knows what you can get by with and what you need to spend a little more money on. I have a eclectic 3/8 drill and 1/2 drive electric impact that I have used for a long time. I have good luck on the 4" angle grinder but I have noticed it giving me a few problems the last time I used it. I have purchased a lot of their tool kits to keep in each veh and my rhino and camper to have at least something to work with. I have purchased probably about 15 crescent wrenches their and a lot of pliers and throw in the free tape measure they run a lot of times. I try and keep a crescent wrench in both tractors and every veh that I own. I have a Christmas list going from their and on it I have a creeper, axle nut kit and a ball joint puller.

 

I have one of their autodarkening masks, it works great for me. I dunno how people weld without one.

 

I need to pick one up. I ended up getting a fixed shade one, but I don't think it's dark enough. I may as well get an auto darkening one.

 

Anyone have experience with the HF version of the Hi-Jack?

Are they as good as the real thing?

 

I have no personal experience but they're popular here by all the lawncare companies. I get by with a manual extended trimmer but def have a mini chainsaw on the list once it gets bad enough

 

I've had one for 10 years, lift a big tractor, diesel zero turn, pull fence post...It's always worked

 

Will it work with accessories designed for the real Hi-Jack?

 

I'm not sure, see if you can compare the dimensions of both jacks.

I love my HF hi lift, but had no idea that the accessories don't work.

Why mcgyver when an actual hi lift is only $16 more? and that's not taking into account you'd pay on the HF one

I never even knew about hi lift accessories or this site. I had the HF Jack long before.

 

They'e not the same size. I'm sure YOU can make the accessories work for the HF. I do own a HF one, don't forget they change the models thus the actual size, shape of some items.

 

No problem. I don't see that as a deal killer.
