    Just curious, is it really a reg that Marines aren't allowed to ask celebrities to the ball/events? I read the article on Duffelblog, but then I heard people talking as if it were an actual directive.

    There's no regulation on it but there are quite a few that look down upon it. Their reasoning is that it takes away from the celebration and puts all the attention on the celebrity. I can see that point but I also think that the more people with influence that see Marines as a little more than rifle carrying baby killers the better.

    The feelings went away when I unloaded my mags at the dam. It was only an extra 10 days longer. I went over two weeks before on the advanced party so I didn’t get to spend St Paddy’s in Hawaii but I did make it back a few days before Halloween so I wasn’t as mad lol.

    @Twinkie0311 i would be lying if I said it wasn’t intense but always tried to make the best of it. And the food was awesome. Had my 21st birthday in that city and I was blessed to be in a firefight during that evening. But when they weren’t shooting at you or trying to blow you up the people were good.

    You got me beat, but I did turn 21 during the middle of the Crucible at boot camp. I was so tired I didn’t realize it was my birthday until late that day, not that it even mattered.
