I lived in CO for 10 years. I've taken two whitetail there, a couple antelope, my dad has taken a couple whitetail, a mulie, and a big horn sheep.

Every animal I have tasted from CO has pretty much been horrible (with the exception of elk). Something about the sage brush I think.

I live in the midwest now so I have the privilege of eating all corn fed deer :9

I had a sage doe in southern Idaho...horrible...had to throw it out. Luckily up here they eat wheat/grass mostly and some brush but its not sage brush so all the animals are really good!

Yeah that stuff just ruins the meat.

Everywhere else I have had any game meats it's been great.

Forgot to reply to this for a while but I followed a friends recommendation and had the entire deer processed into hamburger with 20 percent beef fat added. When I cook I would usually add a third of regular burger or other venison. Had no taste issues especially when wife prepares it.

man I cant even imagine that being a problem, never hunted there. I probably wouldn't even bother if they tasted that bad
