Picked up a jetboil at Rei today. They are 35% off right now. I’m hoping to Use it this weekend with my aeropress. Might try out the press it came with.

Tasters choice packs are decent, i just boil water and use one pack per cup. also Nes-cafe (or whatever its called) instant coffee is pretty good too, i take the grounds out of the glass jar and put it in zip lock bags. i use them at work a lot too bc the coffee at work tastes like raw sewage.

I don’t see what the big deal is here. It’s camping, keep it simple. Get a metal coffee pot for camping (Cabelas has some in their camping section), bring a camp stove or single burner stove, some water and your favorite coffee (ground before the trip) and just make a pot of coffee. Simple, easy peasy. If you have to have your Starbucks super duty double shot latte macchiato mocha doppio cappuccino blond espresso with drops of bat guano then maybe camping isn’t for you. :D

I think a lot of people enjoy the craft of camp coffee. Can’t just drink beer the whole time ;)

Can't remember if I posted this. I've tried most, if not all of the techniques noted in this thread and all I do now is the following for DIY single serve bags. No gadgets to carry and clean. No special filters....just hot water using the stove of your choice. Simple as can be but as good as all the other methods. Mix up as many bags as needed with any grind that you choose. A little work up front, but that's it. I dry the bags when done and then burn in the campfire.

17 year old set up that consists of a pocket rocket stove, pot, French press made from lexan or polycarbonate, don't remember. I have made thousands of cups with this stuff.

Cowboy coffee? Ever hear of Cowboy coffee? I’ve had this often while out in the boonies. It’s quite simple and very good if done right. Take a pot and add water. Measure out the ground coffee the same ratio coffee/water as you ordinarily do. Add the ground coffee to the water and bring to a boil. When it starts boiling remove from heat and let it sit for about 2 minutes. Pour about a half cup of cold water into the brewed coffee and either a couple of egg shells or 2 clean stones/rocks. The water and stones or shells make the grounds settle to the bottom. Pour a cup and enjoy. If done right it is really good coffee.

I've done a mod or two
AeroPress and I bring a random local grind that I've never had before to mix it up. :)

I’ve heard of that. Didn’t know about the egg shell or rocks part though. I might have to try it.

Although we bought an insulated French press and it’s stupid easy to make good coffee with it.

+1 on the Black Rifle. Some things are worth a little more coin.

For camping, in camp, grind enough for a few days and store it in a small Tupperware, boil water and use a press, once you use a press it's hard to go back to anything else. Besides, we all know paper filters make coffee taste like cardboard. We make enough in the morning to fill or Clean Canteen tumblers and also fill a Yeti thermos too cuz I can drink coffee for half the day camping or not. Just don't add creamer or anything to the coffee till you pour it into a tumbler. The Yeti seems to keep black coffee fresh for quite a while.

For hunting or backpack camping (read scouting for prey) I'll just use Nescafé but the Yeti thermos's are amazing at keeping pressed coffee fresh and hot for a loooong time. I just don't like to end up packing a big empty thermos by the second day.
