I have a Toyota PreRunner 1999 that was running hot so I changed the Radiator, waterpump, radiator cap, fan pully. It kept running hot so I took it to a Mechanic that told me the Head Gasket was Blown. after having it for 1 1/2 months he told me it was ready. I picked it up and drove it for about 2 months and it started running hot again. I took it back and he said he would do it again. I picked it up for the second time and it still ran hot. Being frustrated and deciding he did not know how to fix it I took it to another Mechanic that had a Great reputation for fixing cars and Trucks. He told me without breaking the motor down his conclusion was that the Block was cracked. Is there a way to know for sure that this is the problem without breaking the motor down. There was no water in oil or any common symtoms. Any ideas?

You could take the radiator cap off while it's cold then crank it up and see if you have any bubbles. Or get a cooling system pressure tester. I think someone makes a dye kit where you pour some stuff in the radiator and it tells you if you have a gas leaking into the coolant system.

Ask the second mechanic what evidence he has for this - if he's actually a good mechanic he'll tell you with an actual diagnosis - otherwise he's just making assumptions. It shouldn't be a secret.

What engine do you have, the 2.7?
