My brother bought one in February (2017 V8 Gas) it's nice and hasn't had a single issue in 20k miles. He was going to get another Tundra but this was cheaper with better features for under 35 with rebates. The reliability of the new Tacoma's is what had me buying 2015, but after driving a friends 2017 TRD OR has me thinking of upgrading.

He was surprised his credit union valued it more than he paid. Slower moving vehicles have more room to negotiate for sure.

Well, I ended up not getting the Titan. I bought a 2018 4Runner off road instead. I will miss having the bed, but I decided the 4Runner fit my needs better.

I have the same 4runner. Did a mild lift and 275 bfg ko2, love it. Holds it value like crazy and it's a quality rig

Not a quality picture but difference is night and day over stock

    2 words. "Nissan quality".

Will always be the ugly sister to Toyota & Honda, quality wise...

You made the right choice Op

That looks really good. These stock tires are going to have to go real quick. I love at 8200 ft and they are. It going to cut it in the deep snow.

Just got back from a 4 day trip through Utah and Sothern Colorado, and it seemed like we made the right choice. The 4Runner cruises nicely, but can also hold its own off-road even while stock. Nothing like beating up a truck that still has temp plates.

Your rig looks amazing. That is pretty much exactly how I plan to set mine up Pelfreybilt bumper and black vinyl on the hood. That scoop gives off a mean glare. 95k in three years is serious mileage. I bet you have had some awesome adventures so far.

Congrats on the 4Runner, what did you not like about your 3rd Gen?

Combination of factors. The fuel delivery/mapping was what really made me get rid of it. I know there is the OVtune that supposedly fixes much of that, but I didn't really want to spend $800 and void the warranty. Honestly I think the design is overly complicated with the switches between port and direct injection and Atkinson and Otto cycles. The throttle on mine was very unpredictable almost to the point of being dangerous. It seemed to smooth out slightly after 8k miles, but by that time my mind was pretty much made up.

On top of that I had the diff issue, rattling dashboard, vibration on deceleration etc. My wife did not like driving the manual, and we do a lot of trips where I am on the bike and she is in the truck, so that was also a factor.

We just got back from four days in Utah and Southern Colorado, and overall I think the 4Runner works better for us.

Which Titan are you thinking about trading the truck for? Cuz they all suck.

If you don't need the truck bed I can't think of any one thing the Tacoma would do better than the 4runner. The list is long for things superior over the tacoma. Not the least of which is seating position

You can buy a 5x10 ramp gate trailer for 1200-1500$ new, that will do pretty much any bed use you need.

Agreed, exactly what I have. Usually easier to load also. I also have a Tacoma, so I can see when a bed is useful

I like Titans (and Tundra) if going full size for the simple fact that they're more scarce and unique!
