Building My New 2017 TRD Off Road Dbl Cab

Just wanted to say this is a awesome site. A lot of information on here. Could get overwhelmed at times. But I've learned a lot by reading this site. Keep up the great work.
A little history of my experience with Toyota tacoma.
I had a 2007 TRD ORDC 6sp manual
Nothing real special.
It got totaled in 2013. Some guy pulled out in front of me and that was that.
Paid $32,00.00 new on 12 miles on it.
It had 227,000 when it found its final resting place.
The insurance company gave me $19,512.00 for it.
So I have been waiting for 3 years to get another and I'm doing my way and below is how it's gonna start.


Ordered the first week of October. Build on the 31st. Shipped on the 11/11/2017.
Supposed to be in Columbia South Carolina 11/18/2017. I live in Pennsylvania, I had to order from southeast region for 3 reasons.
1st. No option for power tail gate lock in the northeast
2nd. No option for bed, interior, or undercar lights in the northeast
3rd. No option for the tires and rims I picked out.

The ordered truck is as follows:

Premium and technology package
V6 towing package
Dual usb power port rear seat charging station
Tailgate power lock
Tri-fold hard tonneau cover w/ led lights
LED Illumination package (interior and exterior)
17" rockstar wheels w/ Nitto Terra Grapplers

Sticker price $41,736.00
hope to bring them down on that one.

I ordered my 2017 Off Road and picked up mine a few weeks ago. I had no idea you could order half the options you did...several of the options I would have liked to have also ordered that you did, were not available to me...

 

Yeah when I looked on Toyota build site for north east some weren't there. But knowing I was going down south for a few weeks I put in a zip code for there and showed so many more options. Crazy how there are different options for certain areas.

 

I wish I would have done that. Love the way my truck came out...just wish I had some of the options you ordered. On another note though...Pay attention to the Hill Start Assist feature on your Tacoma and if you don't mind, tell me how it operates/feels to you compared to what you know or expect will you? I have the exact same truck as you and I'm a little disappointed on this particular feature not operating as I am accustomed to compared to other vehicles I have owned over the last 30 years...

 

Don't think Hill Assist comes on the manual.

Wow, that's going to be a nice truck. You didn't negotiate a discount off MSRP up front?

 

Is the power tailgate lock just a dealer-added Pop and Lock or does Toyota now have an "official" lock available for the Tacoma, as on the Tundra?

 

$41,xxx for that? I got the same truck minus the dealer installed options for $35 flat

For anyone curious the only factory options on that truck are the tow, prem&tech and tonneau. Everything else will be installed by the port or dealership.

Truck was to be in last Friday 11-18-2017. it was delayed till today. went to get truck and I told them: no tint, no pin stripping and no stickers about dealer on truck. Well truck had pin stripping and dealer sticker. So I have to wait another day. Will take pics when picking up and after each new piece added. Getting excited.

 

So got the truck and love it. The shifting is great. Way better and smoother then the 07 I had. the only thin I would like is the steering wheel just a touch higher (for getting in and out). Yes I made sure it was up and in all the way. Here are a few pics. The air intake, mud flaps. I just did the side step last night will upload those later. I had them take the badging off both sides (after I took the pictures). Things remaining to be installed when I get back to Pennsylvania:

Yes it was. Very nice place. Heading back to Pennsylvania this weekend. Just came down here to get the truck. Different options here then up north. My mom lives here and gets her car worked on there all the time.
