Haven't been on the board for a while but just saw on BFG's website that there is now a "D" load version of the 265/75/16.

Weird thing is it's actually slightly heavier than the E load with less carrying capacity. Anyone here have any further insight on why and what this tire is intended for?

I was hoping to find a C load version of 265/75/16 but no luck so far.

Because the load E have a stronger sidewall.

They happen to be able to carry a heavier load - but only at a insanely high pressure. But no one buys them for that.

Aired down on pointy things sidewall strength is critical. Load E KO2s have a stronger sidewall than load C featuring an extra ply. The tread portion of the load C and load E are identical as far as plies go.

And yeah - if you bought a load E tire to get an extra strong sidewall you shouldn't be surprised if it doesn't ride like a road tire with a spongy sidewall!

Hmm... I can't find it on the BFG site - they have a PDF spec sheet that doesn't list a load D. Not listed on Tirerack either. Do you have a link? Or maybe there was a typo/misread and the D was a different size tire which would explain the heavier weight?

I 100% agree. It cracks me up the amount of people that own a Tacoma TRD Off-Road TRUCK and want a Cadillac ride. If that’s what you want, buy a Cadillac.

I’m on the other side. No, the KO2’s don’t ride like a Cadillac, but I don’t want or expect them too. The Goodyear AT Adventurer’s that came on my TRD Off-road made me feel like I was riding in a car. I hated it. I wish Toyota and everyone else that makes a vehicle with “Off Road” would quit putting these cheesy ass tires on their trucks. People that buy an Off Road intend to drive OFF ROAD. Put some OFF ROAD tires on the damn trucks and save us some money. I bet 75% of the people who buy a Tacoma/Tundra TRD Off Road drive the truck off the lot and straight to their tire dealer and shell out 1,000.00-1400.00 dollars on a set of REAL truck tires.

The Ford Raptor is the only truck out there that actually comes equipped with a tire that is ready to roll straight off the lot. They come with 315/70R17 BFG KO2’s on them. Even the Ram Rebel comes with the Nitto G2 Terra Grappler which is nowhere near the likes of the BFG.

I can’t be the only one who thinks this way.

I totally agree with you Stefan. My Tacoma feels like a truck and rides nice and firm and ready to turn onto any type of dirt road now that the BFG KO 2's are on it. I like the E rated tire it gives me confidence that I can go thru those rocky areas when in the desert and mountains and I do. I had BFG KO's on my FJ and they never let me down. I'm sticking with what works. Also I can pull my trailer with no issues.
Like you said if you want a caddy buy one....

That’s a good looking ride! I’d like to come out to the desert and drive. That would be a great experience.

Any one have recommendations on on/off-road tire pressure? Just got my 265/70/17 KO2s on yesterday and headed out to the desert this weekend. IMG_0593.jpg

    35 on-road, higher if you're heavily loaded.

    10 - 20 offroad, 10 if you're in sand, 15 on rocks, 20 on trails.

2E79CE32-1712-43E6-9063-DEFCD154491C.jpg Read a lot of reviews on these tires and people either love them or hate them. I have had them in the past and never had any issue with them on my dodge or my Jeeps. Went and purchased the KO2 this afternoon in 265/70/17 C. Tires look great on the truck, went up the interstate and they were balanced just fine and road noise was not noticeable. Truck handled them just fine.

Just ordered a set of BFG T/A KO2's in 265/75/16 from Costco. They have $120 discount if you buy them online, but wouldn't honor it in store for some reason. Total for 4 w/installation/road hazard, etc. was $779.07. They'll also charge and extra $12 for TPMS stuff when I get them installed. I had $400 in gift cards so that helped a lot. Do I need to get an alignment as well?

I'm leaning towards putting the letters in because my fender flares are black. Pic of truck WITHOUT them installed yet.

Also, my new to me truck came with brand new Mazzini EcoSaver tires in 265/70/16. They have like 500 miles on them and are pretty much brand new. Any ideas on where to sell them other than Craigslist?

Just got them installed today. They said that I will need an alignment but they don't do them there.

@dutch8006 Can you flip the tires and have blackwalls or are they only able to be installed with white lettering out?

After much analysis and indecision, I had four 265/75-16 Load Range E KO2’s installed on my 3rd gen today. I bought them from a local independent shop that had them in stock and matched other pricing. The sales guy told me that they install tons of this tire on Tacoma’s - several sets a week and I’m in a pretty small town. They recommend no more than 35 psi on road for a better ride but still decent wear. The ride does feel a bit harsher over bumps than the OE Wrangler Adventures but not awful. But I’ve only driven about 3 miles so far. Full report after I go to Death Valley later this month.

I drove home first, then another 42575 miles, then bought tires and came home and told my wife I bought new tires. She said “What, the truck needs tires already?”
