These are a good quality jump battery. There are some crappy ones out there.

I’ve done the trim and simply found a couple little pieces of plastic that I could grind into a little “L” shape. Then affixed them to the underside of the tray with some epoxy; resulting in two little “extension tabs” sticking up on the trimmed side of the tray to hold the battery on that side. It doesn’t take much to keep it from sliding around, considering the battery is under pressure from above.

Note: imagine bending a stick of gum into an “L”. One side gets epoxied to the underside of the tray and the other side serves to keep the battery from sliding. You could probably get away with one tab but I liked having tabs by the battery corners (2).

Do you just plug into a wall outlet to charge?

Minor update here, folks. First I tested the battery in the garage after the truck had sat all night: 11.9v. Clearly that's not good. Then I took the truck down to O'Reilly and had them test the battery. Turns out there's nothing wrong with it, but as expected the voltage was low. Basically that just means that I don't drive my truck enough to get a good charge on the battery during normal usage.

Now that I know what the problem is, we can work to avoid it by taking a longer drive at least once a week. I also ordered a charger so that I can manually top off the battery if I don't get a chance to do some driving.

Thanks again to everyone that has offered feedback and information on my issue!
